I LOVED her!!! I had a year-long class with Yin, and although the class itself was not the most entertaining I still managed to have a good time. She gives crazy good feedback on your papers and is very easy to talk to. I highly recommend everyone take a class with her.

The best prof in the English department by far. You will learn more than you thought you could and become the best writer you can be! She is so willing to help, gives great essay feedback, and is entertaining and engaging in every class.

Honestly in my top 5 favourite profs ever. I took a year long course from her so there was a lot of course work (4 papers, midterm, 6 ish quizzes and a final). But it was spread out well and marked fairly. Extremely helpful if you approach her. Expects a polished essay but is more than willing to help you get there.

She is an outstanding professor. She gives extremely detailed feedback and if you seek help she goes the extra mile to help you. Is super knowledgeable and passionate about what she teaches. If you work hard you will definitely be rewarded in her class. I would definitely recommend her and would take another class from her if I had the chance.

Yin is definitely one of the best professors I have had. Although the course material, to me, was quite challenging and dry. She makes it much more tolerable through her humour throughout the entire class. She's extremely approachable and helpful whenever you have questions. 10/10 would recommend.

Nice Lady, but I think her ego is what makes her a hard marker. I spent a lot of time on papers etc. and I got lowish marks just because she thinks she "knows everything" about everything. I like her as a person, but her grading is ridiculously difficult. She doesn't give you any encouragement for trying your best. It's all negative comments.

Just an amazing teacher, awesome and enthusiastic lectures, she gives good illustrations and patiently answers everyone's questions, even the really annoying students. She made class so fun, I actually LOOKED FOREWARD to it, which says a lot. I hated almost every part of my school life that semester but couldn't wait till Eng 290 each day :)

She is hands down the best prof I have ever had. I took the class as an elective and I would take it again in a heartbeat. The feedback she provides on papers is beyond what I have ever seen - she types out a page providing not only suggestions but also positive feedback on how you approached the subject. Best professor I've ever had - and that's saying something. Her knowledge of her subject is direct and thorough, as is her communication. She was always available in her office when I had questions, and her quizzes are really easy if you go to class and pay attention. She doesn't try to use "trick questions" and she is fair with her marking.

Best prof I've had so far. Awesome at what she does. It's important to go to class and write down notes as she speaks as she does not use slides, but she is also very clear about what is important to know for tests. Lots of options & freedom for essays. Very entertaining and never a boring class. Definitely take a class with her!
