If your that college student that thinks missing class is acceptable, this is NOT THE CLASS FOR YOU! you will fail. took 366 and 366lab with Lao, the material is easy, its beginning dedicated that gets you, if you don't have that drive then expect to fail. Lao is one of the most dedicated and helpful and respectful professors at CSUMB

Dr. Lao is not an easy professor. He Loves gotta ya questions on quizzes & exams from obscure sections of the textbook. This class was online, there is 15-20 pg. term paper you have to write with someone else in the class. He doesn't give any constructive feedback on assignments and rarely comments on form posts. Seemed to check out from the class.

the potential for this class was high but the professor was terrible. I dont like to bash college teachers but he truly was the worst teacher I'v had thus far. The exams are based off of the readings from the textbook, but from the obscure bits that even I could not find after reading, and re-reading several times. Very unclear, doesnt communicate

He spends half the class lecturing about the readings. Tests are not based on his lectures they are strictly taken from the textbook and very confusing. I would read the chapters multiple times and still do poorly on exams. He does not compromise, very confusing, plenty of busy work on excel.

I took the online section. If you're not self motivated and comfortable with computers, then take the regular class. There's a lot of info on Blackboard, but I think the teaching materials need to be updated, they were occasionally confusing. Dr. Lao is helpful, but not if he thinks you've been slacking. The end of semester stuff was hard.

Prof. Lao is excited about his subject, but tends to take an adversarial stance toward his students. He becomes defensive if anything goes wrong with the software, which it often does. His test questions are ambiguous.

This class is ridiculous and difficult! The professor doesn't seem to care too much about the students. The quizzes are very misleading because they do not cover the material in the book. Good luck if you have this class, the professor has extremely high expectations. Good luck!
