Huge fan of Prof. G! He can take a while to make his points, but once he does they're clear. He's kind too. Sometimes the material felt over my head, but the final was fair, focusing on key ideas which were brought up repeatedly in class. A course that actually makes you think creatively; he tries to prep you for real research. Brilliant TA too.

Assignments are tough, but are graded fairly. Keep up with the article readings because you will find exactly what you need in them, for the assignments AND the final. Do not rely on just the slides because they only scratch the surface of what you need to know.

Great prof, impossible assignments, designed to trip up both the linguistics kids and the cogsci kids. Friendly, good lectures, but repeats himself quite a bit. If you're at all interested in neuroscience though, this is the course to take. He's got lots to share. And no textbook! All slides and online readings.

No matter how much effort you put into this class and how many extra readings you read, your grade will not reflect it. The grader is incredibly picky. You can have the gist of the question right and you will barely get part marks. Teacher unorganized and makes judgments about other fields. Refuses to answer questions if not in the mood.

Comment:
This teacher is horrible. Makes inappropriate political remarks and shoots down students who ask questions that might challenge his work. Constantly makes mistakes about his slides. Doesn't reply to emails. If you are serious about school, avoid this class. Although the topic is extremely interesting, his class absolutely takes away from it.

I'm quite fond of this guy actually. He can be a little vague at times, and he comes up with some TERRIBLE examples that take too long to explain to non-ling students - and he is waaay to sympathetic to them - but it's a great topic, and he really encourages academic exploration and forming your own opinions, rather than parroting. Brilliant idea.

The idea of the class is interesting, and it brings something new; but he is unorganized with his slides and his assignment questions are hard to understand. At least the TA`s are kinda generous graders!

OH MY GOD SUCH A GREAT PROF! I have never had a prof who is so eager to encourage intelligent scepticism. Thought-provoking and humorous -- he tells great anecdotes.

Wonderful Prof who just wants to make you think (a first around McGill) doesn't want you to memorize someone else's theories- but to use them to create your own. Not a bad marker as long as he knows you tried to answer the unanswerable.

I found this class really interesting. If you liked Petrides' class, this one overlapps it a lot. He's a nice guy and has a lot to teach.

The course has the potential to be very interesting, unfortunately he is not a very good teacher. His lectures don't really coincide with the readings and he is terribly boring.

He's useless, and the course is useless. It's boring, easy, and irrelevant to pretty much everything, because he's trying to play the middle between linguists and psychologists and there's not common ground. He's a nice guy, but that's about it.
