Transfered from Tucson, Arizona to S. Calif and found Bio 20 a great class. The lectures were straight forward and the labs were excellent. Great class for non-majors.

After enrolling in other field studies courses at IVC, OCC, and Fullerton, without reservation those biology and horticulture field studies taught by Prof. Johnson are the best.

The tissue culture lab was great ... it was well organized so that all the steps from selecting a plant, such as rose or Venus flytrap,to transfering explants in a sterile environment was well presented.

idk why ppl say he is hard. His lectures were pretty clear. His tests were based off lecture. u dont need to buy a real lab manual, just some $15 basic one. its just like high school bio. BASIC labs! very GENERAL coverage of cell cycles and mitosis/miosis. 1 extra credit power point assignment. I got a B and NEVER studied. just went to class

Very easy class. Tests are very straight-forward. He doesn't ask tricks questions. All I did was to do well on his tests, and do 3-5 questions every week, and I passed with a 99%. He's not good teacher though. I still don't know what was going on in the class. Not recommended for people who actually want to learn. However, he gives you a study guide

Must be smart. He is a Dr. but he can't teach. I have to take this class or I would drop. You could get a book and learn more than you learn in his class.

I took the 6 week class. It was intense. The tests are very hard, but he does drop the lowest grade. I can't stress how important the extra credit is. JUST DO IT! He is a nice guy, but the class is difficult and he doesn?t hold hands. Listening to the way he lectures, Zane is very stoner like indeed. A study group highly recommended.

Most people do poorly or average on his tests as a reflection of his teaching ability. However, he offers enough extra credit to make up for it. Nice guy, bad teacher. If you want to learn anything in his class, you might as well just read the text book and teach yourself.
