This professor is AWFUL. His lectures aren't clear; you're better off learning on your own or through your TA in discussion. His exams aren't tricky but you have to make sure you know EVERYTHING really well bc it's T/F style. Just do all practice exam Qs he assigns bc it mimics the ones on the test. He's kinda helpful in office hours though.

WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD FOR MATH, ONLY TAKE IT IF YOU LIKE SELF TEACHING YOURSELF THE ENTIRE COURSE. He tries to be helpful but hasn't given an example that is easy to comprehend. I only went to class for clicker points, choose another professor by any means!!

I read the reviews and didn't listen. I had gotten all A+'s in my math classes, so I thought I could just deal with it, however bad he was. I was wrong. Really nice guy, terrible job of teaching the class. I was lucky to get out with an A (not even sure how I managed that) considering how little I felt like I understood.

That he has clicker questions is about the only reason to come to class. Book isn't used, but unless you can decipher what he's saying, it's the best way to learn in his class. Our midterm was true/false, very easy (much easier than other classes', I heard). Final was 70% T/F, 30% regular problems.

I got an A in this class. However, I do not recommend anyone to take his class. It's impossible to understand even a single word he says. So you might as well just learn the material on your own using the book. The worst part is, we had to use a clicker which is ridiculous for a math class.

Only uses ppt, which suck. He confuses you by trying to teach you the theory as complicating as possible, so go to your TA's office hours, it helps. His tests are true/false, which means no partial credit which also means low test scores and he doesn't curve the tests. would recommend trying to get a different instructor.

Do yourself a favor and do not take this class. He gave me a C+ because he didnt like my methods although I got correct answers. He laughed in my face when I asked for help. I'm great at math and he killed my confidence.

NOT a good professor at all. All he does is read off his powerpoint lecture which is pretty much all book examples. Couldn't understand a thing he was saying. He makes his students attend his lecture by adding clicker questions in the middle of the quarter

Basically writes down whats written in the book. stopped showing up to class after week 3. i figured i had to learn all the material on my own anyway and never got anything out of lecture. GO 2 DISCUSSION. got most of my learning there. good thing is, midterms r just like practice, final is slightly different. quizzes are easy, just kno the basics.

Professor Guan actually tries. However, he tends to show concept rather than examples and thus making this class sort of difficult. His midterms are exactly like his practice ones. His final is slightly different but destroys a lot of students because they don't study. If you take him, make sure you took the same class in high school.

Don't listen to people giving all 1's. He's not that bad. He tries to be as helpful as he can. He gives you sample midterms which happen to be the same as the actual midterm just a change of numbers.

Guan is so rude. He writes on the board using dead markers and small font. His lectures aren't very helpful because he copies from the book without providing any useful examples. His midterm but fair, but his final is really hard. He will test you stuff that is not convered in class or from homework. He failed a lot of students.

This guy should not be teaching. This guy just quotes from the book with very few examples. I found hid midterm and final to be different. I failed his class, but got an A from a different professor. Don't take him if you are not good at math
