I love Professor Goldstein. Go to class, take notes and seriously do not be afraid to ask questions. Only graded on 3 quizzes and 3 exams non-cumulative. Pay attention in class and practice a few problems after the lecture and you'll pass with a B easily. 89%-75% is a B. 75%-60% is a C. Take him!! He is hilarious and the best professor i've had.

Take perfect notes. Exams and most quizzes are open notes so you'll need to write down everything he says during lectures. He will also call on students so be ready for that. Find a good neighbor to sit next to in class, he's not really great at answering questions but it's good to work with those around you. Quizzes/Exams have a lot of EC.

No group project, no book needed (unless you want to do practice problems); just attend all the classes, take good notes and ask questions! exams are open notes and free response, therefore you need to understand the reasonings behind the answers. 60% is a C, but you have to work extra hard to get an A&B. Professor Goldstein is nice.

Even if you still miss the first 1-2 classes, you still should enroll in his class ASAP. He's available in his office hours daily, so no need to formally schedule appointments with him, as he'll give you what you need, in case you miss notes/lessons, need clarification on online homework problems, etc. Lenient grader. Fair mind.

I took this class over summer and I really enjoyed it and felt like everything I learned was valuable. He's very sarcastic and some people don't get his humor but it's nice to have that in such a serious class. I didn't buy the textbook --his example problems were enough to prepare me for every test. All tests are open note and not multiple choice.

If your planning not to show up to class, you will be very lost when its time to test. His test comprises of his lectures, which are just going through easy problems, and problems he emails you to practice before the test. As long as you show up to class, take notes, and do the extra problems, you can pass with an A. He lets you use notes in tests.

I honestly don't know how to do well in the class, if you pay attention there is no guarantee you will understand, I think he expects us to take the exams just for the sake of passing, not the greatest professor I had so far, and hopefully the last. Expect to put in a lot of work if you want a good grade.

Professor Goldstein is very knowledgeable in his field. Your classes will normally consist of lecture for the first few classes of a chapter and then practice problems for the rest because they can take a while to do. Grade is based on 3 tests. He curves. Doesn't move on until everyone understands the material. Ask questions if you get confused.

One of the most difficult professors Ive ever taken. I went to SI every week and understood it clearly. I even did most of the hw problems but when it came to the exam it was completely different. Usually only 3 questions no room for error

It is honestly hard not to get mad when describing this teacher. He was rude, unapproachable, sarcastic, and he was plain awkward. He was bad at teaching, he would go on about information that we didnt need. he cant get to the point. If it wasnt for his TA who understood the material much better than him, i would have failed. Please avoid him.

It is a hard class no doubt. He tries his best to help, but sometimes it's confusing and he expects you to understand it. So just always do the homework/book problems, they are not mandatory but help a lot, especially on tests, when you are under stress and don't have time to look though your notes.

I was nervous at first, but Dr. G turned out to be one of the most informative professor. He might seem unapproachable, but he is very kind and eager to help for anyone wanting to learn. You will learn a lot about regression, forecasting and advanced linear and non-linear programming. highly recommended!

He takes the avg of 3 MTs, the class is easy if you pay attention. Open notes with more than ample instruction. I did well on all 3 MT, barely studied because it's all in the notes. Homework isn't graded, but do it for practice. Solid prof with with a great teaching method, I would take him again in a heartbeat.

he is a nice guy however his lectures are very confusing, I even stopped going to class because his lectures weren't helping me. your grade consists of the average of 3 tests. but he does curve a lot. I passed the class but didn't learn a damn thing lol I personally wouldn't take him again

His class is easy to get a B in but hard to get an A. The first exam was really easy so he made the second one a lot harder. It is easy to keep up with the material in class lectures and SI but the questions are a lot harder on the exams. Didn't really read the textbook. Only used it for practice problems that he recommends which you should do.

Best teacher I have had at CSUF. Disregards the ISDS curriculum and teaches the way he wants to teach. No power points, just teaches you theory and application. It's much easier to understand. He does not over complicate the class. Easy grader and gives you extra credit on each exam, which is open note.

If you take this professor, make sure you do well in 361A. If you don't then this won't be the right class for you. He is hard to understand because of his thick accent, but overall a great professor. Do the homework and take advantage of his office hours if you're not keeping up with the material.

Tough class, decent professor. His lectures and teaching style is rather unstructured, which was annoying but not a big deal. Your grade is the average of 3 midterms. If you pay attention, see a tutor for help with homework, and go to SI for practice questions then you'll do fine. This class is manageable if you do it with confidence.

Really cares about what he is teaching. Always read to assist students when needed. Lectures are easy to follow. Exams are open notes and he doesnt grade hard at all. Grading scale is perfect, an A is like 85% or higher. Hard to fail the class. Just show up and youll pass.

Dr. Goldstein is a funny guy who places a lot of value on real world application. Statistics has never been easy for me but if you attend his lectures and follow his examples you have a high chance of getting a good grade.
