He is one of the nicest professors I have ever had. His tests are easy, if you pay attention in class and if you read the material that is not in the book. He has group quizzes almost everyday, but they are only for extra credit and they help you understand what will be on the test (there is only 3). I highly suggest his class.

Good professor with a lot of experience. Don't take this class if you don't like being called out in class or speaking infront of a class. Takes points off for dumb things on exam but overall they aren't too difficult as long as you take good notes in class and study them.

If you show up to class and take decent notes, you will get out with at least a B. No homework, you don't need to read if you come to class, and exams aren't bad. Adeed is a sweetheart and shows that he really cares about his students. If you know the answers to the quizzes he gives in class, he'll really like you and go out of his way to help you.

He has quizzes at the beginning of class that are for extra credit. If you study for the test, you should do fairly well. He sometimes rambles on and his lectures can be long.

Dr. Dawisha is definitely an expert on the Middle East but his lectures are so ridiculously boring and repetitive that it's impossible to stay awake to hear about it. If he made class more engaging it would be better. The tests are all based on just the reading and not his lectures, which makes them even more unbearable.

Comment:
Dr. Dawisha is so interesting and his class is awesome because he is an expert in his field. However class participation doesn't matter at all and the lectures are redundant from the reading, and he makes you take the tests before the lectures which makes no sense. Definitely take him for a chance to learn from an expert

This was the first poli sci class I've actually had to read for. ALL exams are over the readings. Very in depth. Lectures basically just go back over what you've read.

Great professor! Tests made by TA and sometimes feel inconsistent with content in class, but he is fair if a question was poorly worded and will exclude it from your grade. Take good notes and without the textbook your can definitely get a B. Some of the questions on tests weren't cover in lecture, so the textbook is needed for an A.

Adeed Dawisha is an excellent professor. He is very laid-back and understand and grades fairly. He's extremely knowledgeable, distinguished, and experienced. He conducts quite an engaging class. He is a very kind, humble, and generous person as well. He is also my major advisor, and has some good advice. Overall, I highly recommend his class!

Intelligent, well-spoken professor. Definitely knows the Middle East and enjoys teaching the class. If you study hard, you will do well. Some questions on his informational tests can be highly subjective, but he is not easily persuaded. Lot's of work, but it's a great class and highly recommended.

people who complain about this class are the ones who don't go-Dawisha tells you VERBATIUM the exact questions on his exams, you HAVE to go to class and memorize it.personally i loved him, thought he was very articulate, intelligent and his life story (coming from Iraq) was very interesting.he can come off somewhat cold until you get to know him

Only three grades were given without any chance or opportunity for extra credit. Very little was done to make sure the students were learning and understanding the material. There was little to no communication with the TA who was the one making the tests and the information given in lecture did not always correlate with the questions on the exam.

An interesting class if you are actually interested in the topic. Grades essay exams pretty harshly. Final 15 page paper is worth 50% of the grade. I'd recommend the class as long as you're willing to do the work.

Good class. Dawisha is great and knows his stuff, especially concerns in the Middle East. Sometimes the tests ask for specific information only found in the book, so make sure you read it and highlight key points. Otherwise, some 90% of the answers come directly from the mouth of the professor: Go to class everyday!

I wouldn't take this class again. I got a B but it wasn't worth the effort. I've never spent more time trying to sort through information to find the exact thing Adeed wants. His lectures are decent but he does not tie them together very well; he jumps from topic to topic without transition.

He is a very smart professor, and an expert in Middle Eastern politics. He usually did a great job with the lectures, but it sometimes felt that he was "phoning it in," as if a lower-level class didn't really matter to him. He was also insensitive in his humor at times. However, overall, a high quality prof, though probably better at a higher level

Great Prof! Class isn't bad if you dont mind taking notes, but I never needed the book except for a small paper. His TA made all the exams from the in class notes and gave pretty detailed review sessions before the test.
