Professor Strand is an amazing professor. One of the best I have had at Colgate. He is willing to help his students out in office hours and genuinely wants you to succeed. If you have a chance, take a class with him. He does not grade homework or attendance but these are both important if you want to do well in the class.

The best professor I have ever had. I came into Colgate after taking a year off from math class I'm now considering switching my major so I can take more of his classes. Linear Algebra just becomes interesting because of him! Amazing as always, and he is always there for students. Extremely helpful. I am so lucky to have him to be my adviser! I would say that I am a math major largely because of him.

Man this guy is an amazing teacher. Im taking his Calc II class as a freshman and he is just the funniest guy around. Always enjoy going to his class, even if the lecture is boring he always finds a way to slip a million jokes in. The class isn't overly challenging if you put in the time. He gives these amazingly helpful reference sheets!

Amazing! Just awesome! Prof. Strand is super helpful and easy. His lectures are easy to follow and he makes his lectures very interesting! He spends so much time giving feedbacks, which is helpful. He also has a great personality! Take his class no matter what he teaches, seriously!

Strand is an amazing professor. I'm terrible at math, but his office hours are so helpful. He knows exactly what he's doing and his teaching is very clear and easy to follow. His quizzes and tests are also very fair, if you study and do the homework.

Al Strand is a living legend. He's taught at Colgate for 44 years and counting. The man only has one lung for god's sake. He makes learning Calc very do-able with only putting in a bit of work. I've had him for the last two semesters and he's still killing it at 74.

Great man. Attendance not required. Homework not required. He gives you his notes that he uses to teach. Quiz every friday is one easy problem from the homework. Has more office hours than there are hours in a day. Has the funniest old boy mentality. Nicest guy. Really knows his math. Helps you out.

Strand is the Man. Truly a champion. Sure maybe you get a little drowsy from time to time but the guy is hilarious. He keeps math mildly entertaining(except for the soothing voice that lulls you to sleep) and tries so hard to help students do well. Strand in one word:BOSS.

Comment:

Loved math, and this class wasn't that hard. Fair exams based on very fair and clearly explained material. Drink coffee before, because Strand's voice induces drowsiness. Despite this, I really liked the class. Fair, consistent, and many good jokes (and some bad ones)
