Comment:
The textbook for this class weighs 500lbs and is thicker than the bible. Prof. Raphael is kind and caring, but be prepared for cases that go on for 30 pages and get ready to be asked about every concurrence, dissent and obscure intricacy. The publishers could honestly cut out half the pages in this textbook, the students would be better off for it.

Do not listen to these reviews on Con Law. Yes, he cold calls and makes you work hard however that is law school. I've never been better prepared for class or learned the material better than I have with Raphael. He is AMAZING! If you put in the work, you will get a lot out of it. He is the man!! Hands down, favorite teacher in law school!!!

Cares deeply about his students. Knows his material. I had him for both Con Law and Crim Pro. Excellent professor. Be prepared to read a lot for class and memorize case rules for exams. If you don't mind the reading and memorize the rules, you will do swell! I probably learned the most in his classes during my 3 years at Loyola.

I heard good things about Raphael before taking Con Law with him this semester... but have not experienced said good things. Probably my least favorite professor I've had; cold calls about things outside of the case (American history questions, for example), lectures without much discussion, and seems like he enjoys catching students off guard.

Condescending, stammering, not interested in discussion or alternative viewpoints...kind of a jerk sometimes. Says the word "uh" about five times in every sentence, making him difficult to listen to for more than a few minutes. I will avoid taking any other class with him.

I took Crim. Pro. with Raphael after being warned by some of his Constitutional Law students that he was bad. HE WAS AWESOME. If you do the readings, it's not hard at all. He will call on you, but if you don't know the answer, he won't ridicule you or make you feel bad, he'll just move on. If you engage him, he's interesting and fun. I recommend.

Pretty straight-forward. Discusses every reading in class and cold-calls sometimes. Exam was very similar to past exams, so no surprises. Also, exam is closed book (or at least was in the 2 classes I took).

Professor Raphael knows the material - plain and simple. It also helps that he loves the material and Supreme Court jurisprudence. Class is mostly lecture-based. Exam is short - two basic fact patterns (with expectation to cite case names). I would recommend Crim Pro - Adjudication with Professor Raphael.

At first, the lectures are intimidating as you try to keep pace w/ Prof. Raphael's chatter. Moreover, Prof. Rapheal asks questions that are easy to catch students off guard. His attempts at humor are awkward but all in good fun. Not exactly receptive to questions but a nice guy nonetheless. Exam was fair, if not easy and straightforward.
