worst teacher I've ever had at hancock, doesn't react well when you ask him questions, he expects you to know every single little thing related to this math class. The tests don't align with anything homework related. Only take if you've taken hard math classes and are good at math.

Mr. Abela explained concepts fairly well. He really tries to help you out if you dont get a problem. He hates if you use your phone. Only thing that really bothered me was on the test he is not at all lenient. A small mistake would cost you most of the points on the problem. However, he does offer retest so you should be able to do well.

Mr. Abela is very laid back, but can also be stern. He is a good teacher and has a hard time hearing every once in a while. Calc was tough, so everyone was thankful for retakes and open notes. I would recommend Abela. He may not look like it, but he truly cares to see students pass :)

You are expected to participate. Will have a lot of homework (but it's doable). Allows open book notes in tests. Allows test retakes as long as you turn homework in on time etc. He may seem tough at times but he really cares about his students success and wants them to understand the material for their own sake. Great teacher hands down!

Did Elementary Stats during the summer. He gives homework everyday which can be lengthy but doable. He allows retakes but it wont be the same exact exam. You have to have done all your HW for that chapter plus corrections on the failed exam PLUS 3 problems for each wrong problem. I got an A by reading the textbook & doing it's example problems.

Great teacher, tests are open book/note. He will let you retest as long as you have all your homework turned in on time. He REALLY loves in class participation and hates it when people are silent. When it comes to your last test if you have over a 100% average in the class you do not have to take your 'final'.

Be wary... If calculus 1 and 2 are all you need and you're able to take both with him, do it! The tests are easy and he allows retakes in order to receive full credit. Biggest problem is you will not do well in the next calc class because he doesnt teach all the subjects! Completley misses applications and volumes in CALC 2 and misses other stuff.

He was an amazing professor and the class was not easy to sham but he poured his heart into that class. He was one of the only teachers I learned anything from at Allan Hancock. I take classes there because it is an easy school and practically free. You get what you pay for. Dr. Abela is the man!

I almost dropped this class because i thought it was to advanced for me. After a few classes it became much easier. Mr. Abela allows you to retake tests if you did not do well, use your book/ notes during tests. He is nice, funny, and easy to understand. My final grade was 102%

Took him for statistics. I would say he is an easy teacher but I love math so it comes easy to me. He HATES when people talk or use their phones. And it seems like he has bad judgement towards them after that. If they need help he will be rude about it. Where as if someone more involved in the class asked, he is polite.

Great teacher. He lets you use ALL your notes on the tests and lets you retake any that you feel you didn't do well and averages them up in the end. He gives extra credit when needed. Towards the end, he lets the top students skip out on finals!

His class for stats was pretty hard! He seemed like he would get mad when people didnt really understand what he was talking about. Then you would ask a question and he would get kinda mad! BUt the cool thing was that he was allowing to do retakes on his tests if you did bad!! He had like five versions of each test

I suck at math, but Mr. Abela was willing to help out every step of the way. He is a great and fair teacher to have. If you hate stats, this is the class to take.
