The professor is really nice (except never use your cell, he will be pissed!), but he drifts off a lot, and the lecture takes a completely different turn. The material is rather boring andor self-explanatory. You will be judged on how you do on four truefalse exams, nothing else. And they are worded quite complicated. Skip this class if you can!

By far the worst professor I've ever had! His lectures are very long and boring. He is also very strict about phones and talks like he hates the new generation. There were only four truefalse exams throughout his class. They were very hard because there was no information given to us about what was going to be on them. Avoid this professor!

he doesn't teach and he basically hates our generation. he does not like technology and he will take away your phone as if you were in middle school. avoid him, he's overall the worst professor i've had

His exams are basically true and false and that may not seem a lot, but it is harder than you think. every time i thought i did well on an exam, I ended up with a D or lower. seriously, avoid this guy! his tests are either on the millions of pages he makes you read OR on what he says. everything he says is not in his readings either. you will fail

Awful professor. His lectures are like watching paint dry and the only thing that is more boring than his lectures are those horrible videos that he shows. He despises laptops, phones, or anything else that works electronically at that. He takes a LETTER GRADE off if he sees your phone out. Does not review quizzes and does not care if you passing.

If you want to just read the textbook and go to class days of exams you might be better off. Class is interesting at times however your grade is based off of four 30 question multiple choice tests that are based strictly off the book and not covered in class. Chances are you will pass because a 51%= D but for a 100 level class could be a GPAKILLER

Maxwell is a nice guy but that's about the only positive thing I can give him. Your ENTIRE grade is based on 4 true or false quizzes. He lectures for a little bit but then talks about topics that aren't useful to the class like how much he hates technology and his personal political beliefs. His class was a complete waste of my time and money.

Worst professor at MSU hands down, boring AF, and he just goes on and on about his life. Ended up dropping the class because it was so useless and hard. Dont take this class except if you want to fail or withdraw!

The most unfair professor I have ever taken. didnt learn anything. total grade based on 4 exams only which are supposedly based on book, but i never missed class, studied hard and have never even heard of most of the information on tests. Doesnt give exam back, just grade and will not review exam after. Do not take him unless you like frustration

To be fair; he's actually a very nice personable guy one-on-one and did take time to go over my paper with me. However, this class is a lost cause -two papers with vague (at best) instructions make up the entire grade. No possibility for revisions or extra credit. I spent 5 hours roughly on each paper, worked hard but ended up with GPA killing C+

I'm very conflicted; I didn't slack off in Maxwell's class, nor did I work my hardest. But I attended most of the classes (more than I can say for 70% of the students in my class), took notes and studied them (and the handouts) for his tests. Yet, I failed. Your final grade is entirely dependent on your test performance. He is not overly clear.

Such an awesome guy! Loved all of his lectures. Only gives 4 exams, 25 T/F questions. No attendance policy...He even gives the option to take all 4 exams on the day of the final. If you pay attention during lecture, you'll have no need for the books. Lovelovelovelovelove him. Forever and ever the end.

I've never had so much trouble in a 100 level course. You can learn things from him, but really nothing related to the course. If you want to read the text book and teach yourself everything then I guess he's ok, but otherwise he doesn't teach well and has no sympathy for you if you don't do well on his tests.

Drop out of this class immediately if you get this teacher. He will only want you to hate school. This was the most boring teacher I have ever had in my life. Half of what is talked about has nothing to do with your grades or things relevant to the topic. Teachers least concern is grades. You will fall asleep just by hearing him talk. Switch Out!!!

terrible teacher. Difficult-near impossible tests and grade is based on tests only. doesnt care about attendance or anything.. pretty much just sits there all boring and gets paid for nothing. I believe this teacher enjoys seeing his students do poorly. will not go over tests after if you would like to review your poor grade. Class average 60%

Terrible teacher. Always talks about himself. Nothing he talks about is on the test. His test are impossible even if you studied really hard. He does care about your gpa and doesn't care if you fail. avoid him at all cause~!!!!!

Took Urban Anthro. with him very boring. All test where T/F which can be hard or easy. only 4 tests,test based on his lecture. I didn't use my book after the first test, so I wasted my money because all you have to do is come to class and take notes from his lecture. He was late or just not at class for like 2wks.

I took Cultural Anthro with Maxwell and it was torturous. I ultimately got a C, which really messed up my GPA. I'm now forced to take him for theory. There are only 2 papers which each count for 50% of the grade. He is always in a good mood, but very unreliable and unpredictable.
