A fantastic man and scholar, and yes, very interesting voice to listen to. However, the teaching leaves much to be desired. Questions are rehearsed and probably used on every class since the 70s. Not very engaging, but I really wish he was because he is a great person and has a lot to offer in the way of knowledge.

Eh, i spent a lot of time sleeping. his voice is soothing if nothing else. He passed me though. Ask for extra help, he will appreciate the time you took to meet with him.

One of the most dull English professors I've ever had. Not to mention that our first month with him has been only Ancient Greek literature, and will continue to be. Doesn't know how to phrase questions correctly, resulting in a lot of silence from the students after questions are asked. Zzz.

He is a treasure. I have taken his courses 3 times (keep missing finals.) Have learned to looove Homer, Shakespeare, Chaucer. The kind of teacher who will still be in your head 20 years later.
