Speaking as an avid history buff, this class SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN. She will get out one sentance on topic before moving on to "George Gershwin's Rhapsody in blue" which we heard more about than any bit of history. at the end of the class, anyone could pass a test on her life story. passing a test on the subject matter is another story.

Worst teacher I've ever had. No point in going to class. All you need to do is read the chapters and you're good to go. Horrible teacher. She isn't really hard in terms of grading or class work, but you will want to go to sleep 5 minutes in to her class. She rambles way too much as well. Avoid her if you can!

I hate this woman. worst teacher i have ever experienced. if you want to teach yourself western civ and be forced to sit through ridiculous lectures that literally make you want to pull out your hair this is the class for you! DONT TAKE IT. SHE SHOULD BE FIRED. the only reason i am passing is because i cheat.

DO NOT TAKE!!!! she expects everyone to become history buffs. I just needed the class for a GE and did the readings (not enough). She is horrible lecturer (nothing to do with class). Nice lady, but to old to teach because she loves to give her opinion and tell stories about religion, etc. Worst class ever!!! Two and half hours felt like eternity!

I can't believe this old witch is still teaching. I took her some years back, she is the worst teacher I've experienced. Went off on wild tangents about Pres GWB, religion, insulted students who were absent, etc. The most unprofessional teacher you can imagine. She should be let go or retired, and students should avoid this academic deadwood.

The class is pretty easy to pass; Read the chapters and take the quiz for it, do a term paper (subject of your choice), and ENDURE her lectures. She tends to go off topic a lot of times which can get people uninterested and bored .. at least I was.

Sometimes she goes off on her little tangents and her own history but shes very accurate and knowledgeable on the material. if you take notes from the text and truly understand all the material in the chapter then you will do well on the tests...therefore that means you REALLY NEED TO STUDY to get a good grade!

the book she required in the beginning was the wrong book, and by that time, the book store was out of the right one. "tough luck" she said. also, i went to the bathroom in the middle of her class to throw up, came back to get my stuff, and refused to let me leave until i told her, in front of the whole class about how i was sick. shes a horrible.

I agree with most of what others had said about her. I wish she could devote more time on teaching us the important things in history rather than telling us about her history. Her teaching method was too old, drill and kill.

She's bitter. spends all class time promoting the book she's writing, talking about how smart and educated she is. lecture unhelpful. basic kind of 3rd grade memorizaton stuff (from the book). which is a shame cause it's such a fascinating subject. She's arrogant and says a lot of innappropriate things about all beliefs different from her own.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I took this teacher this quarter and her tests are VERY unfair. In a class of like 12 ...we all failed her first exam and then the best grade in each test seemed like a ( C ) grade and the rest all F's. She really sucks at giving exams since they are in paragraph form and not multiple choice. HORRIBLE TEACHER!!
