Comment:
Literally the WORST professor I have ever had. He is condescending and the way class works on a daily basis is SO inconsistent; when asked what the next class period will be he says "I don't know" as if it's a trick. Lots of reading. This class is not about culture, but instead the history and politics of Spain. Try to avoid this prof!!

Good luck with this guy. If you get on his bad side, look out. Puts down students that he doesn't like. Not a good Spanish accent either for a Spanish professor. Full of himself. Not a good teacher like the other reviewers say. Not sure why he is rated this high and I would avoid this guy at all costs. Narcissist & opinionated. Try Rosetta Stone.

If you need help you can go to his office any time. READ the syllabus. He goes in-depth about his exact expectations. I love his classes because he forces you to think critically. The classes are hard work but worth it to those who want to be fluent. Honestly the best teacher I've ever had - my skills have skyrocketed thanks to that department.

As the rest of the reviews say he is pretty hard. One issue is that if the rest of the class is getting in he moves ahead and leaves the slower learns to suffer. He tries to help and will say it all the time but the words are hollow as he pushes ahead with the class.

Good teacher, but gives quite a bit of homework plus having to speak for 20 minutes a week with a native spanish speaker. Attendance mandatory. Goes over material extremely slowly.

Loads you with homework! 9 Journal entries, plus chapter workbook, plus a paper in spanish which you have to memorize and rewrite in class, plus memorized verbal conversation with him for 7 minutes every three weeks. It's a 100 level class! Attendance mandatory.

OOOh! For an already bilingual student (needed the minor), he has a horrible Spanish accent (i.e. CG, he says as Say hay)! por favor! It is pronounced "se he" with short e sounds. It's rediculous for a professor with a Phd. He seems to be intimidated by me and I've hardly said much to him. One of my worst professors!

Dr. Patrick is one of the best (if not the best) teachers I have ever had, regardless of the subject. He knows what he teaches, he doesn't rely on tests to grade you, but how you use the language and improvements you make. It can be a lot of work, but it's well worth it. I would recommend any of his classes to anyone. What a fantastic teacher!

It's so nice to have the chance to learn a language from someone who is so knowledgeable of that language. He grades you not just on what you got right or wrong but your progress and your effort. His class teaches you to rely more on yourself and your instincts than the teacher. I hope to take future classes from him.

He's a very enjoyable person. He always comes to class with a smile and encourages a lot of conversation (in Spanish of course). He grades very accurately and corrects your mistakes so you know what to work on. He also grades based on your progress (how much you've improved) rather than just tests. I always enjoyed his class.

Man is this class hard, but he's a good teacher and expects a lot out of you. He knows his stuff better than any teacher I know, ask him anything and he can answer it. Be prepared to work hard, but your skills improve a lot throughout his class.
