Gives a lot of homework throughout the semester, but does not count it towards your overall end grade? Attendance is optional, but if you choose not to come you will not learn and therefore fail the midterm and final, which is only what he takes for your overall grade. Also, goes on long tangents.

I took Maleske's J-term class and I loved it. The discussions were interesting and got the class talking. It's a class for musicians, so you had to practice everyday in addition to nightly reading. Maleske's tangents are insightful and he has a lot of good thoughts on the topic. It's easy to pass his class if you are willing to put in the effort

Be ready to teach yourself. He does not require attendance, so I rarely attended class. Each & every class period is filled with his incessant, irrelevant tangents. He wrote the textbook himself (with many typos). I learned more from my hs stats class in the first week than I did all semester with Bob. He's a nice guy, just has a bad teaching style

This is possibly the worst class I have ever taken in a college setting. He treated the class like a party all year and didn't care until the last few weeks of class when he suddenly starting assigning huge assignments every night with little to no explanation of what he wanted. He then graded them really harshly. I have not learned a single thing.

His lectures are all over the place. He writes incohesive notes on the board, he rarely teaches in class, he goes off on little "tangents". Be ready to teach yourself from the books- which he wrote himself by the way, so good luck with that. He's a really nice guy, but I absolutely hate this class. I just can't learn from his teaching style.

He's a nice guy, but not very professional (although to him, that's probably a compliment). He boasts about how he doesn't believe in grades but that doesn't exactly work when you take a class in which the tests (and therefore grades) are standardized across multiple classes. Take his class if you want entertaining tangents, not relevant material.

Attendance is not require but gives a "professional opinion" grade at the end of the semester which I feel he takes attendance into consideration. This class was very challenging with not many assignments other than take home quizzes. Grade is heavily weighed on midterm and final. Stats is challenging enough and he did not make it any easier!

Maleske is a fairly easy professor. He teaches what is required to know, and expects you to do your own work and be honest about it. I learned to think more clearly about statistics. He was unclear at times, when he was off a little some days. But overall, he is knowledgeable. I respect him as a professor. Just be careful when doing the assignments

Awful professor! Most of your grade is based on his professional opinion of you. Does not teach, yet expects students to not make mistakes. Even said, "getting it right the first time is one of the objective standards that I feel obligated to maintain". He has this attitude yet we see him make mistakes all the time in class. Class is unfocused!

His lectures have no relevance to what he is suppose to be discussing in class. The quiz answers are on the back of the quiz so you should never fail. Overall he is a nice man but a terrible professor!

Statistics is not very exciting in general, but this class equips you with the basics without being overly demanding. I think that Maleske makes the class relevant, and does the best he can with a boring topic. As a person, he is genuine and will help you to succeed. The book is really a great reference for the future.

Horrible class, horrible professor. Grade is based on his "professional opinion" of you, yet he didn't even know the names of his students. Doesn't give directions to assignments and expects the student to "figure it out". This causes a distraction from the actual learning material. Very, very disappointed with the instruction I received.

Bob is by far one of the best professors I've had. He makes class really interesting and presents the material so clearly. He taught me to be responsible by not requiring attendance and giving the answers for quizzes. I love talking to Bob outside of class, and he's helped me a ton with both the class material and other, less scholastic questions.

It was a very difficult class and the tests do require you to know the material very well. While it is alot, if you want to go to graduate school to further a degree in psychology it will be VERY helpful.

Criticize him all you want, but he is a great guy! He teaches you life lessons that you will hold onto forever. His teaching methods are so different but I love them! He makes you want to learn, achieve and succeed on your own! It's not just about statistics or psychology in his class, it's about learning who you are and what you want to be.

Bob is a very nice person. Some people may not like his teaching style, but if you listen you can learn a lot. He wrote a great statistics book and he is very to the point. Meet with him after class sometime for one and one help and you will be amazed at how well he can explain the material. If you actually make an effort you will benefit
