Brian Powell treats every lecture like a show. He's entertaining for sure. At the same time he's one of the smartest people I've ever met and is one of those people that can explain something complicated to a fifth grader. He pushes you to be the best you can be and pushes how you think. I wish I could take another class with him.

Do yourself a favor and TAKE THIS CLASS! By far the most interesting and engaging professor (and class) I have taken so far in my two years at Indiana. All of the material is very interesting and he makes every topic discussed extremely relevant to every day life. He is clearly a very smart man, and brings out the best in all his students.

do yourself a favor and take this class. I would DVR this professor's lectures and watch them in my free time if they were a television series. he is that entertaining and knowledgable. I felt like i was getting my money's worth every minute I was there.

This class was awesome! It is challenging, but in a good way! Prof. Powell is one of the best professors I've ever had. He genuinely cares that you understand and engage in the material. His lectures are interesting & thought provoking. If you get a bad grade in this class, it's 100% your own fault because he tells you EVERYTHING he expects of you.

I love Prof Powell. One of my favorite professors that I have had at Indiana. The content of the class is so interesting, but challenging. The tests are by no means easy but if you do the readings at just TRY then you will be fine. He wants his students to do well and will give options for you if you start off bad. Miss his class.

Best Gender Roles teacher ever. Period. He gives you options to split up the weight of your grade to participation, commentary, and exams. He has great AI's that work just as hard as him to cater to you. Do the readings, go to the review sessions. Best professor at IU, no joke. Knows what it's like to be struggling and will always give you options.

Awesome fun class! I did not want it to end. You will be challenged to question, think and explore. Tests are not easy, but are doable if you attend the review sessions, take notes, read the articles and attend the classes. Prof is interesting, and fair. If you try you will have fun, learn a lot about the gender topic and pass this class.
