Comment:
Professor Stewart is extremely caring and passionate about physics, but sometimes struggles to clearly convey the material. He has a tendency to spend a lot of time on theory and whip through examples. If you are prepared to spend a lot of time on your own outside of class (including in his office hours), he's a decent choice.

He is a wonderful person, but I personally didn't prefer how theoretical his lectures were. It is essential to attend the TA sessions in order to complete the problem sets which happen to be much harder than the tests. Overall, he wasn't too difficult. As long as you apply yourself, you'll be fine and relatively enjoy it. Mixed feelings from peers.

Difficult class and lectures could be a bit confusing, but professor Stewart is extremely passionate about his subject matter and willing to go above and beyond to further your understanding--as long as you are a self-advocate and request help/go to TA sessions and office hours. Incredibly nice guy, too.

Class was insanely difficult to say the least. He is overworked and extremely stressed out, and I felt like a burden in his office hours. The textbook Thorton and Marion was awful. Be prepared to study in groups of YOUR WHOLE CLASS.

Brillant, smart and simple. Transmits his passion. Challenging problems, this is why some dislike him. Amazing lectures and experiments.

His class was not too difficult it really depends on how much you are willing to learn/how serious you are about this subject. If you are taking physics just as a joke class to fill the pre med requirements, brian stewart is not for you. If you are looking for a challenge/actual physics, take brian stewart.

Comment:
Pretty difficult. Not very good at explaining complicated physics to people just being introduced to the subject, and homework is overly difficult. Fair grader (nice curve), but I didn't really feel like I learned much because I was too busy trying to catch up. Experiments are memorable, though.

Brian Steward is a really nice guy and wants to be a good professor. He tries to be helpful when you ask him questions, but he seems to miss what is actually hard for a beginning physics student, and therefore is no good at explaining himself. His lectures are hard to follow and are often don't correspond to what you're expected to learn.

He is the worst teacher in the department. Avoid him at all costs, even if it involves taking a semester off from physics. He lectures without saying relevant information. He talks about how important a subject is but explains the subject itself. The book is not helpful, the class is awful. I am no longer majoring in physics.
