Comment:

This class was only two credit hours and was more work than i had to do for two other five credit hour classes put together. This 'Fundamental' Engineering class is really stupid and tedious and was completely unnecessary. If you have to take this Trott isn't bad but the class itself sucks.

Dr. Trott is not a good teacher. There are worse. He is monotone, boring, helpful if you ask, gives vague lessons, and you will be teaching yourself most of what he teaches.

Comment:

He is boring and reads off his powerpoints, which can be irrelevant. However, he is very helpful if you ask. The class itself is dumb, with loads of busy work, group work, and nonsensical work that really just makes you want to drop out of engineering completely. It is one of the worst designed classes I've ever taken. Not all his fault, though.

I got one point taken off because I improvised a staple, monotone, you spend 4+ hours for 2% of your grade, lectures are basically the reading and nothing more, and God forbid you have a document printing when he starts lecture.

Solid class. Its first year engineering, so its not hard, you just do CAD drawings, then SolidWorks, then an AEV project. Everything is very easy and thoroughly explained. I feel like a lot of easiness had to do with the fact that I was put in a great group, but no one has really any control over that.

First off, DO NOT BUY THE ENGR TEXTBK. It's used like 5x in the beginning and it's a major waste of $100. Second, Trott is a cool dude. He adds occasional really dry humor that is hilarious based mostly on its rarity. Frosh ENGR is probably the easiest class known to man, so if you think it is difficult (either one), you need to gtfo of engineering

Class is hard/easy. If you get behind: it is hard. If you stay on top of everything: it is easy. There is a pre-class assignment and a post class assignment 3 days a week. Multiple lab reports. Exams are easy compared to the reviews. Easy to get a B in this class. An A takes work. Trott is clear and professional. However his voice is so monotone.

Dr. Trott is very clear and very helpful. His class is a lot of busy work, but if you do it all you are basically guaranteed an A. He teaches everything you need to know and the exams are extremely easy. The averages are always low A's or high B's.

Dr. Trott overall was a very helpful professor. The only complaint that I have would be his voice, it's very monotone and can easily put you to sleep, especially if you have this class very early in the morning. The exams weren't hard, and overall the work in the course was just tedious, not hard.

Dr. Trott is a decent teacher, though his monotone voice takes away from the class and is rather sleep inducing... But, overall, he is willing to help anyone who needs it, and there are always TAs in the room for extra help if needed. All in all, it's a pretty boring class, but if you fall behind, it's easy to get help.

His lectures were very understandable, but very sleep inducing(monotone). He was very nice, made sure everyone knew exactly what they were doing. Exam avgs were always B+ to A-. Pts were taken off in HW for stupid things though.

Trottski was a pretty cool guy. Although he has a monotone voice that can put you to sleep sometimes in class, he explains things very well. His goal was for everyone to get an A in the class. A very nice teacher.

Have my BS & Master's from OSU. Prof. Trott is the best teacher I learned from in my experience. As other poster indicates, pay close attention to details of the work you produce. It was tedious but you'll appreciate when you enter the "real world". I think his experience in corporate America helped differentiate him from the usual "lifer-profs
