bryan sokol is the best!! hes from the south so he talks slow but has a good sense of humor and attempts to engage the class to make the material less boring...the material is dry, but readings arent mandatory and as long as you show up to class and its difficult not to get an A

Dr. Sokol is a super nice person and has a really unique, great sense of humor. The material was bone dry and I don't feel that I learned much...I thought it'd be a different course and not Genetic Epistemology. If you HAVE to take this crummy course then Sokol is the one to take it with. :)

really great prof. i also had a really helpful TA, so that helped. he's really into making sure that you learn the main concepts and nothing extra. i preferred the take home exams to the standard midterm/final.

Horrible teacher. Chooses favorites. He's too into trying to make this class sound difficult than he is teaching it.

Hard class but very interesting. It was exciting to learn more about the different philosophies of psychologists. Great that he pretty much gives you the answers to exams but some off the stuff you won't get until months later and you cover a simplified version elsewhere. Best advice is listen to the lecture AND attend the class.

Nice guy! Listened to every lecture online - got an A+. You must put in the effort or you'll end up like some of the complainers here. He's more than fair - gives you answers for exam essay questions well in advance. Positive, upbeat attitude - nice person, EXTREMELY interesting material (far more than I original anticipated). Great course!

You could do well on the test only if you had talked to him about the test questions. The questions HAVE to be written in a specific manner and specific information... If you couldn't see him or the TA at the alotted time, have fun.

Don't take a class with this guy! He talks in circles does not have a full grip on the content of the course. If you ask him a question it takes him 20 mins to answer! This guy has know idea what he is talking about! More like a philosophy class than a psych class.

Amazing teacher. Does not just teach material from the text but encourages students to question assumptions underlying the findings/theories. Extremely nice and helpful, and very hot.

Very interesting teacher. I feel he has a lot to offer, but is very egocentric in his teaching style. He goes deep in an idea where you are extremely confused and have to memorize his exact words without understanding what you are writing about. I wish he would simplify because I feel I could learn a lot more from him.

He's a really nice and funny person to talk to and a good professor, just a little dry. I discovered that he's a southern american, and that explained the lengthy way he completes a sentence. Aside from that, he's very willing to talk to students in and out of class, and he's very helpful and kind, though he seems intimidating.

Like mentioned below, he is a very nice guy but his classes are a tad boring. Incorporation of a lot philosophy- not my style. Very fair on the tests because he gives study questions and picks the exam questions from these- but they are not easy! and incorporate the philosophy aspect of the course. Talks a lot and never gets through all material.

I found his style of lecturing a bit dry. He's very fair in that he tells you what will be on the exam. Pay VERY close attention to the lecture notes, because even something you think is a minute detail can be tested. He grows on you, but it takes him about 4 minutes to complete a sentence.

Great class if you don't mind a bit of philosophy and some different points of view than we are used to in psyc. Bryan tried to put a scare in us on the firtst day by warning us how challenging the course would be. Pay colse attention to the study questions, review and discussion portions of lectures and attend your tutorials and you will do fine.

Its too bad such a nice guy has to teach such a boring class. I can honestly say that although this professor grows on you, this class is a complete boring waste of time. Don't bother with the readings, they arnt on exam, just take awesome lecture notes, go to tutorial and memorize answers to questions.

Nice guy. Boring course, slaps on unthoughtful marks on assignments. Is spaced out a lot goes off on tangents. No need to actually do any of the readings, just focus on your project. Gives no guidelines to anything but expects you to psychic-ly know how to do the assignments to perfection.
