I had Dr. Baer for Lab.... He's a very tough grader and he's very sassy. He also sometimes laughs at your failure. When he's going over the Pre- Lab he talks in an obnoxious way where he thinks he's super funny when he's explaining chemistry. He doesn't usually follow the lab manual, he's sick of teaching and is retiring soon.

really really difficult professor. he has little patience for people who don't understand the material. quizzes are only 1 question and he gives you 5 mins so it is easy to do poorly. exams often cover topics not fully discussed in class. read the textbook. don't take him unless you have to

Dr. Baer is doted to his students understanding of the materiel. While the course may not be easy by any means it is very informative and will prepare you for chemistry classes in the future.

First off, DO THE QUESTIONS! They are not mandatory but if you slack on them at all you'll find yourself getting 40's on exams. If you need to see him for help, you receive only discouragement unless you just need clarification. I recommend getting a tutor. All in all he's very intelligent but unhelpful to those with a poor chemistry background.

Its college chemistry and its not 101 chemistry. Signing up for this class I think you know that it is going to be very difficult and less than half the class will remain in the last week of classes. Very very helpful if you go to him. If you want an A orB DONT TAKE but if you want to learn TAKE HIM if you dont care about your gpa.

I actually believe he is an overall great teacher. I liked how he didn't use powerpoints at all, but taught us everything on the blackboard. Also not everything that he teaches is in the chemistry book so make sure you go to class. He is sarcastic and witty at many times which can be annoying for some.

His class is hard but doable if you are willing to put the work in. Doing the practice problems really help, and he is good with partial credit. Tests are difficult but if you study, fair He is a nice guy, and although his sense of humor will turn off some he is always willing to help and wont make fun if he sees you are trying and want to do well

class is definately hard but if your willing to put the work in it will be ok. Very sarcastic but very willing to help you out. Definately knows what he's talking about. Expects you to read the book and do all the problems. Tests are all problems no multiple choice. Lab reports are long but a fairly easy grader on them

Definitely not an easy class, and a good background in chem definitely helps. but if you are willing to put in the work and ask for help, it's not too bad. But it is COLLEGE chemistry, and not easy because of its nature. Baer is very sarcastic but a nice guy underneath, generous with partial credit and labs, especially if he likes you

His tests can be reasonably hard, but if you have a strong chemistry background and are willing to put in the work, he isn't nearly as hard as everyone seems to think he is. Very sarcastic sense of humor makes class interesting. Can be harsh if you do something wrong, but actually a nice guy as long as you don't take his jokes personally.

Plan on going to class; no attendance but he most definitely keeps notice. A very clear, very helpful, very sarcastic who makes it his job to teach you chemistry and make fun of you in the process. Not as difficult as it he is portrayed to be (college chemistry people) but you need to put in the work. Great in lab as well.

Dr. Baer is a very clear teacher Instantly you can tell that he is very VERY good at chemistry. He is always available for help and after dry insult he will work with you until you fully understand the material. His exams are fairly difficult but adjusts semester grades accordingly. If you have a VERY strong background in chemistry before coming into his class, you will be fine. Otherwise, he is a difficult teacher and grader, but he is very accessible for office hours and always willing to help you out. Don't be scared off by his tough reputation. If you work hard his class will definitely pay off.

He is a tough teacher but it IS college chemistry. Unless you're really smart at chem, you'll work hard for a low B or C but you learn a lot. He's very willing to help you if you show him you're serious about the class...lenient lab grader, 5 quizzes and 3 tests are your only grades. sarcastic personality but a nice guy underneath it.

Nice guy, Impossible class, if you are going to do well, it will take up all of your time. Exams are soooo hard, we had class averages in the 50's, If you go and see him he will help you get through the material, after making you feel very stupid first. My advice, don't take the class, and if you take the class, expect a C.

Had him for lab and dreaded seeing him each week. Likes to get in your face and challenge you if he doesn't think you're doing something perfect, if you do it correctly he'll just give you a smug look and walk away. Only good point is that he doesn't give below a 70 on labs.
