Comment:

I took his intense semester but really enjoyed it. It was fast paced and frustrating but I feel like I retained a lot of it. Definitely talk in class as it will help your grade. He only speaks in Spanish which is scary but it's okay. We did not use the textbook but did need the online access code.

I took Cuadra in undergrad several times and grad school. I have to say that I owe him a substantial amount of credit for my ability to speak Spanish as a non-native speaker. He made me work really hard in every single class, and I have learned so much from him. He is tough, but that is because he cares and really wants you to learn!

Comment:

I went into Spanish class DREADING it, but Cuadra made it so easy and fun. While his tests are short answer (there's only 2) and his test are oral, they were super easy and do-able. I think anyone who takes him will honestly appreciate him and find a love for Spanish and the culture. Beware, he only speaks in Spanish, but the TA helps a ton!

I almost waited an entire semester to take another professor because of all the horror stories I heard about Cuadra but they're all just stories! He is by far the most inspirational, funniest, caring professor at sfa. He goes out of his way to make sure you succeed in his class. This class was tough but if you go to his office, he will help.

Such a great professor. He only teaches in spanish, which is a real deal breaker for most, but if you stick it out it is definitely worth it. You won't find another spanish professor as cool as this one. He's always willing to help and go back over anything you don't quite understand. Really awesome guy in general. Professor Cuadra is such a cool professor to have. In this class you have to know the basic spanish so he will talk to you only in spanish. He is very helpful during class and outside of class. He is very patient with people who are not fluent. His test are not that hard so you will do fine.

Cuadra is wonderful. His class is based off of two movies. He's very helpful and basically begs you to go to his office. If you're not that good at speaking Spanish but with his help, improve throughout the semester, you're guaranteed to pass. He's just awesome. He's so funny and animated!

Probably one of my favorite, if not my favorite Professor ever. He is very patient. Speaks only Spanish, but if you want to learn it, it's awesome and really beneficial to you. Learned more from him in this year alone than throughout my whole high school career. LOVE HIM (: Makes learning fun. Never wanted to miss his class! TAKE HIM!!! AMAZING.

Oh my gosh! I thought I'd die in this class with Cuadra, but it turned out not to be so bad. I worked my butt off, you have a 20 min oral exam, but he's really cool about it. He doesn't speak any English, but he's willing to help if he can. All around cool guy. I actually learned some stuff in there and am crazy enough to take him again for 232...

This is the best prof at SFA! I try to take him for every Spanish class. He's a great mentor and is an ego booster! He jumps through hoops to help his students if you ask for it. Due to him, I made SPA my 2nd major. Participation is KEY in his class. He'll bump your grade 1 or 2 letters if you really participate.

Carlos is great!! I met with him outside of class to practice speaking and really got to know him -- he's a great guy who wants to see each student learn Spanish and enjoy it! Yes, his classes are hard - but I learned so much. Take him if you can!

Nice guy. Doesn't speak any English. Class is extremely cluttered and disorganized, so it's hard to learn. He tries indoctrinate students with left-wing propaganda, but he's not as nasty or militant as Escamilla. Cuadra's harmless.

after failing Escamilla's class i was very appreciative of Cuadra! speaking in only spanish is helpful, and if you attempt it he recognizes your efforts. he's a great instructor! anyone who hates him or thinks his 132 class is difficult, has obviously not experienced Escamilla!

Cuadra is great if your a native speaker. I had to take Spanish to fulfill my degree so obviously i don't really care about learning it. The class was the hardest Spanish I've ever taken because he does not speak any English at all. If you go to his office to get help, he will still speak Spanish. I was lost because i didnt understand Spanish.

Most interesting classes ever. He expects a lot from his students. I have to admit that his classes are the funnest classes I've ever taken. I am a native spanish speaker, and whith him I have learned so much about the Spanish language. Tough, but AWSOME teacher! Knows the material very well!
