The Self is definitely one of the more interesting psychology classes I have taken at OU! For the final paper we had to analyze the self concept of a character from a book/movie or a political figure using the concepts learned in class, which was definitely stimulating. Overall an interesting class, just be prepared to participate during lectures!

I took Showers for Social Psychology and it's been okay. She can be disorganized at times but you can tell she's passionate about what she's teaching. The midterm was pretty hard but she curved it A LOT. Out of the psych professors, she seems to be one of the easier professors to take

I'm not sure what all these negative reviews are about but Dr. Showers was great! She worked with me to let me into the class late and helped me catch up. I enjoyed the class and it really wasn't difficult at all if you just pay attention and do the readings. She really wants students to succeed and she made it easy to get a good grade.

Don't be deceived by the title of this course being "Happiness" because it's the opposite of how I felt while taking this class. She grades very unfairly and the paper at the end is nothing like you learn in PSY 3114. Her fill in the blanks of her tests are so vague that many answers could be correct.

Her exams are completely free response, and she has material on the exam that was not discussed in class.

Had her for intro to personality. Tests contained information that was NOT in book or lecture. She used OLD research. The class did not follow what was in the course description, and she made it clear on the first day that it would be different.

the lectures were kind of boring, but the tests are straightforward and easy to study for. interesting material, although be prepared to hear a lot about "drops" and "jewelry boxes"
