Comment:
Dr. Gayman does not have expectations that are clear. You just write a paper, get some feedback and she says that it isn't part of you grade. She doesn't put anything on Canvas, had our textbooks messed up, and you never know what your grade is. Gayman is brilliant and analytical but had a tendency to tell you that your thoughts are incorrect.

Comment:
The class I took with Dr. Gayman was primarily reading material in two textbooks and discussing it in class. This discussions tend to revolve around her personal interpretation and opinions. Very intolerant of narrow-mindedness but is generally respectful to students. If you don't agree with her you better have done your research bc she'll debate.

The teacher is very challenging. Although I would not suggest to take her because she gives everyone a B at midterm regardless of how well you have done. She never puts in grades so you have no clue why you got the grade you got at the end of the class. Very argumentative and the student is never right in her eyes. Her way or the high way...

She is very excited about things. Although the class was easy, some of the readings were kind of difficult, but she always went over it in class and if you had problems understanding, would create a very simplistic example that represented the same question as the text. She argues both sides, and asks you do to, just to see. Great professor

I hated this class. THis class is good for people who want an easy A and can't think for themselves. She says philosophy has many right answers, but unless your answer is her opinion she will humiliate you in the middle of class. Worst class and teacher I've ever had.

Dr. Gayman is very nice and active on campus. She presents both sides of every section that needs to be read and her test are easy if you studied and took good notes. As long as you are thinking, you are going in the right direction!

Do not take this class unless you are willing to have an open mind. You will just ruin it for everyone. This was one of the best except those that didnt read or take notes and then started trouble. Its ok to disagree with her as long as you see her point as well. Thats what philosophy is about so dont walk in thinking your always right.

Not open to student comment unless you agree with her 100%. If you disagree or have a question, then you better keep quiet. She seems easily intimidated when you ask her about something outside of what she's looking to teach (say, related to the text but not on the syllabus for the day) & then takes that out you by trying to humiliate you in class.

I loved going to her class every week. The discussions were very interesting and useful. She encouraged everyone to voice their opinion and would listen to all who did. Her tests weren't bad, and she does curve. Her grading techniques on papers were fair. I highly recommend her.

Has got to be one of the best teachers on this entire campus. She is the most helpful, resourceful, smart, and fun teacher I have had for any class. The usual hard 211 Humanities course has been turned into the best A, as long as you go to class and take notes.

She is the worst teacher I've ever encountered. If you have an opinion contrary to hers, she will twist your words to make you wrong and "reclarify" her statement to make it right. Seriously, avoid taking her. She's not brilliant, she's bland. You don't need to attend her class, she'll just summarize what you read with no insight.
