Laid back but very smart. Uses conversation to teach, so come to class having read and ready to talk. Will get a lot done in class without rushing. Tough grader but very reasonable. Will work with you on an essay to help you better prepare.

He gives very clear and structured lecture (once you get used to it), and I learned a lot from his class. Not a hard grader. He is really funny and nerdy and passionate about his subject. The only thing is that he returns midterms at a very slow pace.

Patton is probably one of the most underrated professors in the Government department at Conn. He knows quite a bit about European (especially German) affairs and is very willing to meet outside class and help. He explains everything very clearly and you should be able to get a good grade if you attend class, pay attention, and study a little bit.

Really nice guy, definitely cares about his students. But he's not good at leading discussions, at all. He just asks the same questions until someone offers the only answer he's looking for, then he never pushes back. He really belongs in a think tank somewhere he doesn't have to interact with students.

Not going to sugar-coat it: not all of his lectures are the most thrilling of stuff. But, you know what? Not that important compared to how much I learned in his classes. Excellent teacher; tests can be a bit tricky in spots, but a very understadning and clear professor. Take his classes.

Professor Patton rocks my world. He makes boring subjects interesting with his nerdy jokes. He pushes students to think from a different prospective (away from their comfort zone). I graduated a few years ago, and I still this vivid memory about an issue regarding Islam in France in Patton's Ethnic Conflicts.

Adorable and hilarious. There's a lot of reading, but you kind of have to expect that from a gov class. He's such a sweetheart, he always says hi to students outside of class and chats with people after tests or regular classes. The fact that he's a dead ringer for Steve Carell doesn't hurt, either.
