First of all his class is at 9:00 am and he take attendance seriously. By taking attendance seriously I mean he is marking people late at 9:02 am. The classes drag on because sometimes projects take less time so your sitting there twirling your thumbs like once a week. He also critiques work with a rude tone in front of the entire class, awkward.

David Powell isn't so much an art professor as he is an art critic. He has a very old school way of design but he does know what he's talking about. Don't ever do an independent study with him. If you have to take him for a course think of him as a client, you just have to please him to get a good grade.

David only likes your work if it's how he envisions the work to be. He doesn't like too much creativity and is a bit old fashioned in his design preferences. If you don't change what he says on projects you get a bad grade. Monotone voice and sometimes grumpy, he can be a bit harsh to students sometimes.

He's a great tutor if you follow what he has to say. You are free to create your own designs and that's the beauty of taking his class. He conducts group critics which is quite beneficial as you get opinions from your colleges. You should take his class!

my LEAST favorite teacher. his voice sounds like a monotone bill clinton, and it is very distracting in lectures. his lectures are long and boring, and he talks forever when you ask him a simple question. he seems biased towards people who make work like his, and doesnt seem to encourage you to find your own style of art.

Awesome guy hes funny in a subtle sort of way, and im a real slacker and i enjoyed his class, he is extremely easy going and the projects tend to be really really easy
