I joined the class late due to having to make a schedule change and I had only missed syllabus week. Turns out sylly week involved immediately doing a project worth 5% of overall grade which I wasnt allowed to make up. Thats how strict the class structure is. And if u miss class more than twice u will drop a letter grade for each late

Prof DeSilva is a phenomenal professor. She makes you work very hard for the grade, but if you take the time to put the effort in, you will get a lot out of her courses. She is more than willing to help, but makes you think on your own as well to really prepare you for what's to come after graduation. Amazing professor!!!!!!

Deb was one of the best teachers I had in college. She taught many of my courses and didn't seem to get held up in department drama. She made you think about your work ethic and made you prove yourself. WIthout a doubt the best professor in the communications dept. at SUNY Plattsburgh.

Deb is a great teacher who expects her students to have mental acuity, drive, and so degree of intrinsic motivation. Today's graduates are generally unprepared for the rigors of society and the workforce. These students will hate Deb's subtlety and worldliness. Students with innate intelligence and drive will appreciate her, no doubt.

Just horrible absolutely horrible, as a student coming into her class with industry experience, not as much as her but certinly more recent work then her, you can see her facts are outdated and totally lack sense. Her tests... make sure you can read minds thats the only way you can guess what the test is on, and she offers almost no help to student

One of the few teachers that actually prepare you for a job in the industry. Attendance and promptness are nonnegotiable, but its the TV business and timing is everything. She can be pretty tough, but if you study and know your stuff the class is fun.

She is fair and will teach you discipline. You go to college to learn things and she is a great teacher. Her courses are boot camp for Comm majors and thankfully it weeds out the weak ones because eventually you will make something requiring the help of an entire class and people will know what to do because DeSilva taught them how to do it.

Had her and did fine in her class, but I really had trouble liking her both as a professor and a person. I don't respect her teaching methods, especially now that I'm pursuing a masters in ed. Does play favorites, and those that disagree, probably are some of them.

Ms. Desilva is the best teacher I had at Plattsburgh State. She was the only teacher to prepare me for the real world. Oh, and that "favorites" comment? Not true. If you did the work, and put some effort in to it- you were rewarded. I loved to hear other students saying they avoided her classes because they were too hard. I wonder how far those people got in the TV business.

The worst teacher if you can even say that about her. It is a wonder why she was able to teach so long. Not helpful at all and don't even try to ask her a question. I lost my movation to be in broadcasting because of her. I blame her for not being able to graduate from Plattsburgh.
