Comment:
Dietrich was the worst professor I have ever had. I never complain about teachers but this is the one case I have. There were 4 tests that made up roughly 80 or 90% of your grade. His tests were extremely difficult and nothing like what he told us to study for. The department had to look and make him curve the tests and make the final easier. Awful

This was the worst class I have ever taken as well as the worst professor I have ever had. The tests in this class are worth 90% of your grade and the homework is nothing like the material that is gone over in class. The material is boring as well as the lectures. If you don't have to take this class DO NOT.

Didnt show up to classes&used the time to work on other HW from other classes. thought Id get a C but got an A. made sure to do lots of practice questions before exams. 1st exam was easy, 2nd one was moderate, 3rd one was the HARDEST. i failed this one but he curved the grade. final was like the study guide&boosted my overall grade. good luck.

His class wasnt overly challenging, but as a student that suffered medical issues he was extremely unwilling to work with students who had to miss for anything, even if you were excused through the university itself.

Professor Earnhart is a great teacher. A lot of people get frustrated with his class because they don't try as hard. If you want to succeed in his class like I did, find people who want to succeed and study with them. Sit in the front, participate, and visit his office hours. Overall great guy!

Pros: Nice guy who clearly knows his stuff and takes teaching seriously. Exams closely resemble the homework. Cons: Lectures are extremely dry - notes are presented by slowly scrolling down a Word document. He rambles quite a bit and Blackboard isn't used at all. Sent him a question over email and he never responded. Overall, wouldn't recommend.

Dietrich was vague in lecture and even more vague in person. Lecture does NOT pertain to homework or tests. You'll need the book to know what the heck is going on. I would recommend taking this online or at another college.

If you like not knowing your grade throughout the semester then i would highly recommend this class. Does not use blackboard at all so you have no clue what your grade is. Gives an exam one week before finals that is 25% of your grade (most people didn't even finish) then gives a final worth 30%. Do not take his class, take it online somewhere!!

Econ department is batting .500 with the prerequisite classes. Brian Staihr is amazing but going to this guy is like walking into a fiery pit of hell. 90% of your grade is from 4 tests and he weights them higher each time which makes absolutely zero sense because the first 3 tests all cover 3 chapters. No blackboard cause he's too cool. Boring lecs

Single worst professor I've ever had. Went from macro with Dr. Staihr to this guy and I could not be more disappointed. He presents on WORDPERFECT, lectures are impossible to follow, he doesn't have a website, but expects you to do online homework. Also only gives one printed copy of the syllabus, and don't lose it, he won't give you another one.

Dietrich is awful. His lectures are absolutely pointless and exams are worth literally all your points in the class. After two exams I still managed to have an A in the class because I did the homework and the exams are based on the homework for the most part. However, don't be surprised by the third exam when you get absolutely murdered with a 50%

While his class is pretty easy, Dietrich Earnhart is a terrible professor. I don't know why I show up to 1/3 of the lectures. Test questions are plucked from the online homework, another reason why you should not attend his meaningless lectures. There are better professors in the department for the lower level econ courses.

He is a great person and is resourceful, however, he does not use nor upload your test scores to blackboard (which makes it hard to check it). Even though attendance is not mandatory, he would not upload any of his presentations.

The WORST teacher at KU. I don't know how he is still teaching at KU because it's obvious that nobody likes him. If you like boring lectures and not knowing what's going on then I would recommend his class. I don't know what's worse him trying to teach ECON or the jokes that he try's to make. I strongly recommend not taking his class ever.

Slow-talking, boring professor. He knows his stuff, but he's far from energetic. I'm constantly checking the clock waiting for it to end.

I took Econ 550 and it was a nice class. He was clear on his expectations and exams were basically straight from the homework. It was a small class so you could ask things easily. He was very attentive to attendance so make sure you go to class often. He was very helpful during office hours. Overall, a pretty good professor, I'd say.

Professor Earnhart wasn't the best professor I've had. The classes were really strange and he wasn't the best at explaining the content. His grading criteria was also not well defined. He also did not have a blackboard profile for the class so you couldn't keep track of your grades until you take an exam.

AWFUL. Lectures are boring, there's no BB site and HW is unbelievably hard. TAd never knew what was going on either. Also theres quizzes and if you miss 7 labs you loose a good chunk of your grade. Don't take this guy.
