I don't get what they mean by hard exams. They are not hard. Its all about taking good notes in class. If you listen to what he is trying to explain, you see how good of a teacher he really is. Overall, the best prof I've ever had, and I got all A's on all of his exams. So have no fear, he is a very reasonable prof.

Dr. Dobson is an awesome teacher. He got Teacher of the Year for the entire UF campus if that makes your decision to take him any easier. The tests are really tricky because his answer choices are "a, b, c, a&b, a&c" so you just have to study a lot to master the material.

I thought physiology would be interesting and I would enjoy it, but not with Dobson. Lectures are boring and exams are way too difficult. a,b,c,d and e which are neither, all of the above and etc. Have to study a lot to do good in the class. Even if you study a lot it is hard to get a good grade on the exams. Take Dodd.

I am just puzzled by those who keep saying his exams are so hard. They are not. He is a phenomenal teacher, explains so well. After taking BIO1/2 here, I feel like this class was just a review. Not bad at all. All the other work is just painful busy work which I hate, but not hard. Overall, wish he was my Bio teacher, i would have done better.

The people who posted negative comments obviously had a different teacher. Dobson knows how to explain concepts clearly and encourages us to ask any questions. Tests do have a lot of questions with "All of the Above" option. But if you memorize the slides and take good notes, you're good to go. Simple as that. Prepare well for the lab final.

2 out of the last 3 comments were ridiculous! Complaining because you couldn't guess the answers you obviously didn't know. The exam averages were all around 80%. Have you never taken a science class before? Dobson is the most approachable prof I know, and yet you went to his dept. chair to complain about him?!? Go back to junior high you two.

Dobson may be an OK professor but his exams are absolutely ridiculous. I would study like a crazy person, memorizing slides and even getting some supplemental outside notes and still never made over a C. Dr.Dobson is a straight shooter. He lets you know what his expectations are, and your role in achieving your desired grade. I disagree with the previous poster about Brad Nelson - one of Dobson's TA's. Brad was my lab instructor, and I believe his thoroughness in communicating the material contributed to my making an A on the lab final,& the class.

He really isn't helpful at all. Answers questions sarcastically or suggests useless ways to help. I ended up contacting the dept. chair to finally get my problems with him resolved. I never missed a class but attendance doesn't count, the exams aren't hard if you study a little and for the lab avoid getting Brad Nelson as your TA.

(summer A) great prof. explains concepts in clear, simple terms and always encourages questions. you do need to go to class because a lot of questions dont come straight from notes but on extrapolations he emphasizes in class. Tests averaged low 80s. lab exam avg 84. physioex: easy. lab reports fine provided you follow TA's directions. I made an A.

So far Dobson has been one of my favorite professors at UF. He is extremely knowledgeable and explains the material well. For an A I went to every class and wrote down pretty much everything he said and memorized that and the powerpoints. The lab final was probably the most difficult test all semester, so try to do well on the other tests!

Great professor! He keeps things interesting and is very clear about what is and is not on the exams. Go to class and take note of what he emphasizes, then memorize it, then get your A. Only thing to be wary of is the lab final, do NOT underestimate it. Also, try to get a good TA because they can make or break your grade. Be careful of lab reports.

The best! He is so nice and helpful. Do NOT buy the text book. Go to lecture, print out his notes, fill in extra stuff. Einstein notes are good too. Lab is a crap shoot because the TA's are different but most are chill. Dobson is probably as cool as tillman, but I wont push it.

By far my favorite teacher at UF. Keeps lectures interesting and is very helpful in explaining the material. Go to class, take good notes, and memorize EVERYTHING he says and you will get an A no problem. Awesome teacher!

Dobson was a fantastic professor. Made class interesting, so it wasn't a burden to pay attention. And he's really funny! Go to class, and take good notes and you will get an A. The book is not necessary, and his tests come right from his slides. Just listen and write down what he elaborates on, and the class will be easy.

I took Dr. Dobson for physiology summer A and it was as easy as I had hoped it would be. He makes points very clear by repeating himself. He also keeps you involved by asking questions and refuses to continue class until someone answers him. I got an 89.99 and got an A so he does round up final scores. good teacher, highly recommend.

To get an A, just go to class, take good notes, and memorize the powerpoints. He is a really funny guy in a weird way, and I loved the class! PS: dont buy the book, just the lab manual with the physioex cd.
