Comment:

I took Venuti at St. John's University. Her lectures were incredibly long and pointless. If you want to get an A all the studying has to be on your own and do not study her lectures only, you need everything. Always a complete mess. She is never available for help outside of class. I learned very little accounting and just memorized for the test.

She is very unhelpful and more concerned with being department head than her own students. She gives exams on things that she didn't cover in class. As an accounting major I don't think she has been helpful to my career at all.

Take her. 2-3 exams, 1-2 group projects. Exams are complete fill in and mult choice on black board that's timed. Exams are hard. Gives you old exams to study from. Connect hw that's super annoying but can do it twice to get higher grade and see previous attempt's answers. Very helpful in office hours, tells you things straight up and honestly

Comment:

Venuti was my ACCT advisor while at Hofstra and I'm glad I met her. She's like your "mother on campus" and cares about all of her students - a very passionate advisor. As a teacher, she's the perfect blend - not too demanding, but understanding about student problems without being too laid back. I just wish she taught tax as well!

Hands down, the best professor I have encountered in my entire academic career. She will spend all the time in the world helping her students out with CPA requirements and class material. Tough course, but she gives you many opportunities to succeed. I wish she taught more courses! Such a great, intelligent woman.

Fabulous? Phenomenal? The Best Ever? All of the above! Dr. Venuti goes out of her way for EVERYONE and goes the extra mile all the time. She's one of the few teachers in the accounting department who is so understanding and kind. On top of all of that, she is a great professor and is so passionate. Get her started on pensions - she'll never stop!

Dr. Venuti is a phenomenal professor. She does the best she can fitting a TON of material into one class, but you actually learn. Homeworks are sometimes annoying, but helpful for the tests. Definitely use the sample exams and slides for the exams, as well. She is so passionate about accounting and it really comes across when she's teaching!

Prof. Venuti gives you the resources you need to succeed in this class. Yes, the class takes a lot of time and effort, but in which class can you get an A without working for it? Her sample exams and slides help a lot for exams, and you see her passion when she teaches. I definitely recommend taking her.

There really is no better person for intermediate accounting than Venuti. I actually think she's better in 123/124 than in 101! LOL. You can tell that it's her passion and she's willing to help you out when you're in trouble. HW takes a while to do, but it helps, and the exams are fair. Recommnd taking her for 123 + 124, def. worth it!

Prof. Venuti is a good professor for ACCT101. She's not going to amaze you with the subject material because it's accounting. She is incredibly good with being clear and letting you always know your grade, and letting you determine how hard you want to work to get the grade you want. Not getting an A with her is your own fault.

DO NOT TAKE HER FOR 101!!!!! She assumes students know as much as her 123 students and only reads off slides provided to her by the publishing company of the textbook which is online. The homework is ridiculous and will take you about 4 hours every night. If you aren't willing to spend HOURS filling in 500 blanks on the HW you wont do well.

She's an awesome prof., but Intermediate accounting 2 is deifnitely a lot harder than 1. She tells you exactly what's going to be on the exams, so you only have to study that section for the in class part, but the multiple choice part you do on your own is very tough. I can't think of another professor you'd want to take this class with.

She is one of the nicest ladies in the world. Definitely you'll enjoy Intermediate Accounting 1 with her and 1 is easier than 2. Is very clear, tells you exactly which questions are going to be on the exam, and is often available for office hours. I'd have to say her and Burke are the best two accounting professors at Hofstra.

She is an amazing and sweet professor. 3 tests(non cumulative final. 75% grade is written and online multiple choice is 25%),2 projects(work in groups and do it early), HW(will help you on exams) ALEKS assignment(easy), and extra credit stuff. Dr. Venuti is the best professor I had at Hofstra so far. She is the sweetest person and is always willing to help, and do whatever she can to help her students. Great Professor, generally cares about her students. Took her for 123, and now taking her got 124. Do what she says and you will def get atleast a B+. Tests = on 60%..so if you fail one it won't hurt you to badly. DEF take her
