Easy A if you do the readings and go to recitation which is mandatory. Weekly discussion posts but other than that the course isn't too time consuming.

Dr. Wylie-Ernst is so passionate about the subject she teaches. Lectures aren't mandatory but recitation is. If you want to do well in the class, go to lecture because she talks about all of the main stories and points that show up on exams. Exams aren't difficult at all if you try. Definitely take her for this class!!

Its nice to see a professor who is really passionate about what she is lecturing. You really need to do the readng if you want the test to be easy, but the TAs review sessions really narrow down what you need to know for the exams. Recommended Prof

I took Indo-European Folktales, and it was a super easy A! The class itself requires a good bit of reading, but class is very easy if you do it. If you do the reading she assigns and go to class, you can get EASILY get an A. Her test questions basically just check if you read and attended class, so if you're a decent student, you can expect an A+.

She's always willing to help... At times she may be a bit unorganized, and expect the syllabus to contradict the weekly homework sheets, and even what she says in class...The exams were simple and the class was a good format for a first semester seminar course... Plenty of practice of German structures, but not just a grammar/vocab class.

Great professor. She really wants you to do well and will help you with anything. If you show you're trying hard then she places less emphasis on your ability. Definitely recommend her and the course.

Dr. Wylie-Ernst is an amazing professor. My uncle committed suicide right at the midterm, which I then failed miserably. Because I did well on the first exam and final, she curved my grade to reflect those grades. She wants you to learn the material and enjoy class, not just memorize, and helps out whenever possible. Take her! She's amazing!

I just took this class because it met my lit & foreign culture credit, so it's something I'm not really interested in. But if your interested in Folktales, you will love this class and how she teaches. Read the tales, review the power points before each test, and go to recitation and you should do fine in this class.

Dr. Wylie-Ernst is probably the most understanding teacher at Pitt. She helps as much as possible. Also, she'd rather have you learn the material rather than worry about your grade, which is the best way to teach.

One could not ask for a better teacher. I was so scared to take Germanic myths legends and sagas. I didn't know what to think. However, this teacher was so fun, interesting, and happy, that i loved coming to class and learned so much. She is possibly the smartest woman at the university of Pitt. I would recommend this teacher to anyone!
