He is a terrible person and professor. He's a bitter old man that hates watching people succeed. His knowledge is outdated, and he refuses to work with anyone on anything. Easily one of the worst professors at this school.

Terrible professor and arrogant person. Only his opinions are right, and he had the gall to tell the class that doing poorly on harshly graded papers means you're "taking the easy way out and it says a lot about who you are." Two papers, leaves for the midterm, take home final. Joke of a class and a waste of time and money.

Terrible teacher, learned nothing from him. All we do is watch YouTube videos, movies. Hardest part about him is the papers, always do a presentation. He will scrutinize your paper into the ground for absolutely no reason with no feedback. He left for the midterm, easy 100. Take home final exam, easy 90. This means the readings are not required.

Does not actually know the knack of teaching the course. Never codes on his own, never knew when the entire class started and ended. Easy to pass as you can do any of the 7 labs he assigns. However, better grades are a dream as he barely teaches a thing. So, AVOID HIM!

Do yourself a favor and take any other professor. I have no idea why a man would commute from Vermont 3 times a week so there is probably something wrong right there. His lectures are awful. He also told the class that he doesn't care about anyone but the top two students (which was lovely to hear).

He's honestly just a bad professor. He rarely explains things well and expects so much out of his students for a low level class. He thinks everyone has programming experience under their belt before every concept he "explains". Do not take. You will regret it.

He is a pretty good professor, but he writes everything out on the board and that doesn't seem like the most efficient way of going about a lecture. If you ask for help, he seems to be more than willing to assist. Lastly the textbook I purchased isn't the best, look for a better one. He doesn't use it in class so it seems to mostly be preference.

Professor unfortunately pails in comparison to the other professors on campus. His style of teaching is outdated and his style of grading is very poor. There can be 4 possible answers to his vague questions on tests and if it isn't the one answer he was thinking of its wrong, no partial credit. Just poor old professor needs to retire.

He's honestly just too old to be teaching this subject. A lot has changed in this discipline over the years and he has not done a great job keeping up. He frequently writes out programs on the board instead of on the computer and a lot of the times they will be incorrect and not run. He is also very unclear and not great at explaining new concepts.

CS -I was really easy. got out with an easy A, cause I already knew the basics the basics of programming. I did my best to get an A for Computer and Society. But he was really unclear about what he wanted on the paper. Gave me a C on the first paper cause I addressed one topic more than other. Good guy though. Not specific on what he needs.

I took Fisk for CMPS 1 and 2. His lectures are easy to sit through because he explains things well with examples and he has a good sense of humor. He grades fairly and looks for improvement. The workload is not too heavy, just be sure to study and practice the material.

Tough to follow his lectures, but he allows open notes for all quizzes/exams. Four quizzes total and he drops one grade. 7 labs to hand in out of 14 total. He lets you out a half hour early typically. If you get stuck in this class, I recommend going to his office hours, it'll definitely help. I struggled and pulled an A-.

Easy course, very helpful professor, u should read the book like u r supposed to. He is very lenient at and gives u more than enough time for assignments. Took Comp-n-Soc and Comp-Sci-1. Comp-Sci requires code time but Comp-n-Soc is very easy. Very nice guy.

He really isn't that bad. His grades are fair and the work load won't break you. He has a good sense of humor and he makes an effort to learn your name, so being in class is enjoyable even though attendance isn't mandatory. He teaches well, but sometimes move a little fast. I liked him enough to sign up w/ him for another semester as well.

Horrible Teacher! Everytime I asked for help, I would barely get it if any at all. Teaches the class like you already know programming and code, which I didn't. You have to basically teach yourself by reading the book and practice. I paid to learn, not be treated like I already work as a programmer and am supposed to know. Beginners, do not take!

I have to say without a doubt that I have never taken a class with so much lacking in direction or clarity. The book is confusing and boring.. if your class doesn't ask questions he will spend the entire lecture talking about hobbies of his. I feel bad, I have a conscious, but in my eyes he did a mediocre job of preparing his students for the exam

Sadly, after taking Fisk a third time, my views about him have changed. In Data Structures all he does is teach the theory, no code is presented. Apparently we need to learn it on our own because that how it is in the real world. Well this isn't a work environment, and we're here to learn. Also, the book is garbage - use another. I'm disappointed.

Gary Fisk was okay...I first took Comp Sci I with Kumar who was very strict, though I learned a lot but Failed and had to retake with Fisk, which was a breeze. I would not recommend Fisk if you are beginning programming because he's not so much hands on and professional as Kumar. Kumar would be the better choice if you want to survive in the Major.

It's not that this professor is hard, it's the class that's hard. His exams really dont go with his class. He tells boring stories that have nothing to do with this class. However, he does try to help. Our second exam was right from a problem we did in class. Out of 4 exams and 1 final, I passed one exam with a 65, and passed the class with a C-.
