Comment:
For our course, we used something called Cucumber, which I think we could have done without. The main project of the term (a new game outlined by him) was difficult in the sense that there were too many small details that we needed to pay attention to. He would keep changing his mind on them as well. Overall, not bad, but could have been better.

Comment:
Very tough grader. A small mistake in the homework makes a difference from 100 to 50. The organization of the class is very poor and grading rubric for some homework is unclear. However, it is pretty easy to get an A.

Easily the most real-world, get-it-done project oriented professor in the department. Heavy emphasis on testing strategies and design. Take his courses and you WILL learn and love TDD, design patterns, compiler design and programming language semantics, and software engineering tools!!

Great professor but very strict. Small mistakes can be the difference between a 100 and a 50. Has a great sense of humor and shows it through his stories of his work experience. Used UML at work all summer but didnt know it well enough to get above a 60% on his design quizzes. Beware.

Gary Pollice is the man. He's a really smart, is a very good professor, and also has quite a bit of wisdom, something I've found is lacking from a lot of the other professors. Take classes with this guy - you will be given an assignment and you will question it, but he has a purpose for everything. Nothing in his class is half-assed.

Great software engineering professor. Professor Pollice has obviously put a LOT of thought into the way he teaches the course, and really does a great job. Don't expect to have any free time when you're taking CS3733 with him, though!

Hope you like Eclipse. Because he sure does. As long as you love Eclipse, Macs, and teachers hocking textbooks they helped with, the self-appointed "code curmudgeon" (that's not a cool thing to be, prof) will be fine for you. Otherwise drop it.

Awesome Professor - the guy is extremely knowledgeable and knows how to delegate that information to his students. Project was difficult, but he adjusted his grading accordingly. Class was worth going to. Grade reflected how much work was put into class. HIGHLY recommend taking a class with Professor Pollice.

He is a professor of practice and clearly aware that there is a world outside of academia. There was a running joke in our class that he's worked for every software company ever to have existed. Very clear teacher, he made the class fun and challenging.

Experienced. Patient. Practical. Open-note exams, extra credit, flexible grading policy. A professor with enough wisdom to know a world exists outside the classroom.

Very knowledgable guy. Has a lot of experience in the realm of Software Engineering. I'm not sure if it was the course material, but the content was rather fluffy- it's hard to get concrete knowledge about SE that doesn't sound like bull.

Very odd course; the major project came together at the end for our group, but i'm not sure it did for others, and it wasn't really their fault. this was his first time teaching the course though so it may be very different after this.
