Comment:
Not really happy with this class. The lectures were a bit rushed and not very organized. The papers weren't consistent, or clear. The final didn't cover much of what we learned, so the study guide was more important than anything. I would not take again.

I had Professor Ginsborg for Modern Philosophy, she was a lovely lecturer, a pleasure to have had her at the front of the class nearly every meeting. The material was easy to understand, especially with her (creative!) examples. I enjoyed her class a whole lot, wish I would've attended every lecture.

Ginsborg is welcoming, frequently asks for feedback and is very experienced in Modern Philosophy. She lectures like real a philosopher: critiquing herself on her own explanations and always working to improve her lecture material. Her lectures were very organized and I always enjoyed them. The material is hard though so go to class!

Pretty unavailable and disorganized. Lectures usually end with her rushing over important points. She also lets the GSIs teach the course instead of her. I would recommend taking 25b with another professor.

She was a wonderful instructor. Her class got boring at times but she was always endearing and helpful. Your grade depends only on your GSI. The final is fairly easy.

She is good at explaining metaphysical concepts and responding to questions. She stops from time to time during lecture to answer questions from the floor. The lecture is interactive and I am never bored. Her paper topics could be difficult but the grading ultimately depends on your GSI.

Avoid Quin as your GSI. He doesn't give positive feedback on papers and barely pays attention to anyone but himself. Ginsborg is lazy& doesn't change the essay prompts yr to yr, but it doesn't matter b/c your grade only depends on what kind of day the GSI is having. Total joke. I am an Eng. major, now I hate philosophy & my perfect GPA is tainted

She is fantastic and really knows her stuff. Her wicked Scottish accent made it easy to go to lecture. Her ability to explain abstract metaphysical concepts baffles me. She is very helpful and enthusiastic in office hours. The class does not require that much work, although the work it does require is very mentally straining. 3 papers and one final

Her lectures are alright. Fell asleep on several occasions, but it's not THAT boring. Only 3 papers + 1 final. The papers were just re-explaining the concepts in class, and the final was pretty easy as she gave out the questions beforehand. In general I learned quite a lot about philos.

Considering how abstract and obselete the information can be, Ginsborg did a pretty good job explaining, summarizing, and doing recap from the previous lecture. Sometimes it seems like she is working things out in her head as she lectures, for better or worse. The final exam is much easier than the class itself.

it's hard material but once you get over that and accept it, it is easy to appreciate hanna's quirky ways and stimulating lecture. she does the best she can considering she's supposed to cover modern philosphy in one semester. she's very approachable, which is nice when you remember how brilliant she really is. i would take her again for sure.

Although her courses aren't the easiest to take, her explanations are very thorough, she's extremely helpful and friendly outside of office hours and the structure of her classes are straightforward. She's so adorable, too! Easily my favorite professor at UC Berkeley.

Seemed approchableto me outside of class, and whlie the material is difficult, it would be for any professor teaching it. She seemed clear enough, and offered much time for questions. The material is not easy- avoid the subject generally if you want an easy course. She was not amazing, but fairly good. I would recommend her to others.

definitely wouldn't recommend for teaching an intro class... too much ground covered in class, difficult papers/tests. ginsborg not very responsive outside of class, but during class, ask as many questions as you want. doesn't care that the quality of GSI's are subpar.

Professor Ginsborg's accent is NOT difficult to understand. She's got a slight English accent, that's all. Ginsborg is friendly, helpful, very enthusiastic, and generally does a very good job elucidating difficult philosophical concepts. Face it: This material is going to be tough no matter how good your teacher is. One of the best in philo dept.

Comment:
Ginsborg has a difficult accent to understand on top of her high speed in teaching difficult concepts in an intro Philosophy course. She is great at allowing questions in class, but her fast pace, combined with the difficult material make it hard to begin asking the questions you want. She seems to not want to be teaching intro courses.
