He lectures slowly and reads off the notes. First professor I've had that did this and I'd suggest this course to people who don't like history. Get ready to write million of notes and trying to get caught up. Only needed this for another social science but perhaps it's best to withdraw for a better class.

Redfern talks a lot, and by a lot I mean if you take the class it'd be beneficial to have a recording device. The tests are quite straightforward, no dates to be remembered just important events. He give 4-5 tests including the final. If you take good notes, you'll pass. One of the more laid back easy classes i've taken. I would take again.

I really do dislike history as a subject but this was probably the easiest history class I've ever taken. I had 1 single quiz on the map of Europe which was pretty easy. If you don't show up though, you won't pass. He speaks the entire class and expects you to write down everything he's saying. A lot of notes but if you study, you'll do fine.

Redfearn is a funny guy and a great teacher in the sense of lecturing. This class isn't for people who don't like to attend class. You're not going to pass. The key to an A is just show up, take notes, and study. Not that demanding of a course.

I hate history, but I loved this class. He makes it fun, and he LOVES history so he gets really into his lessons. He is not easy by any means, but he is helpful if you pay attention and take notes. He doesn't teach from the book so don't bother buying it.

Went into this class not looking forward to-I HATE history-but he made it fun! Always had a laugh even at 8am! His random jokes and voices were great. :) If you're looking for an easy A look elsewhere-have to take good notes and don't miss classes-exams are 60% essay questions and will take you the full 50min class to finish exam! take his class!!

Very passionate and entertaining. Very fair as long as he can tell you are trying.. One of the best experiences I have had at CCRI. Entertaining and FUNNY!

I LOVED this professor and his class!! I took the class as a requirement that has NOTHING to do with my major and I hate History! Prof. Redfearn made this class fun and exciting with his jokes and antics. Quizzes are on reading, exams are ESSAY (easy!!) and on lecture. Attendance is a must to pass but it's not hard!! Highly recommended!!!

This guy makes history interesting. His general character is great-funny dude. He is a plether of information. I HIGHLY recommend him. Quizes are from reading, exams are from class and notes. His comments and voices he does cracked me up hard, even at 8am!!! Take his class!!!

He is the best teacher anyone could ask for. He is smart, well-educated, and is interesting. He explains history like a story not just a series of unrelated events. He has motivated me to continue studying history and become a history teacher. Recommended to all! If looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. He will make you LEARN.

I had him for Western Civ I & II, because he was just that awesome. VERY straightforward with what he expects of you. 4 exams, all the same format. A possible quiz each week on the chapter from the book (about 4 or 5 total quizzes, but they were random). You will take a LOT of notes. It's all lecture, but it's all good. He's also VERY funny!

BEST TEACHER EVER. I have been to CCRI and URI, and I still remember his class as being the most educational. He will make you work, but it is WELL worth the effort. I promise you will love his class. By far the most influential teacher ever. Great guy, great humor, so glad I took his class. He is very very animated, which makes the class fly bye.
