Comment:

Pay attention in lectures, a lot of test material comes from that. I got away with not doing half the readings but I would advise to actually do all of them if you want to participate. She calls on random people so be ready to participate even if you aren't ready.

Comment:

Professor Pinedo is amazing, clearly very knowledgeable. She's kind and understanding, but the course can be a little challenging. You will have to do your part, read all the assigned materials, take notes and show up. Exams are a little difficult, but she does hold review sessions. Overall, an amazing professor, but be prepared.

This class was really fun! The lectures are heavily based on the reading material, so be prepared. She's really adorable and loves animals. She's very passionate about this topic, so ask questions and she'll gladly answer! Take this class if you're ready to read 40+ pages worth of work at times. Everything is very interesting.

Comment:

Lots of reading, but the essays are interesting if you care about the subject. Had her for Horror Film and Women in TV. Horror was one of the best classes I've taken at Hunter. Women in TV was fun but A LOT of presentation projects. She has expectations for students, but she's super nice. As long as she sees your effort she'll help with everything.

I didn't get to take a course of hers until my junior year, but I'm so glad I did. After taking 271 with her, I was psyched to take Complex TV Narratives. She was my thesis advisor, and she's a great person to get to know. Very supportive as long as she sees you're really trying and interested in the subject. If you like TV, there's no one better.

I took Horror film with Prof. Pinedo and the course was awesome. I advise you to hand work ON TIME bc she does not accept late papers. Come to class on time and participate. She gives out a lot of readings but if you do them and you participate, you'll get brownie points. I loved all the films we viewed in class. You gotta work for your grade

Took HORROR genre class with her, and the only annoying thing were the students who ate loud food and crunched away making it difficult to focus on the films. All those negative comments must come indeed from lazy students. She is approachable, easy to understand and left the class with a new appreciation for this genre! She is an awesome teacher!

Reading the reviews for Dr. Pindeo leads me to believe the vast majority of negative feedback was posted by lazy students that are in school for the degree, not the knowledge. I have taken every class Pinedo has taught. She also advised me on my honors project. She's brilliant but she won't just hand you an A. You'll have to work, imagine that.

She is unreasonably difficult to the extent that all her exams are on lecture notes, not text books. If you don't write down every word she says during a lecture, you will get a bad grade on the exams. Also, she has a "my way or the highway" attitude that was frustrating to the point I stopped speaking up in class.

She's very smart, but if you don't read she may call on you randomly. She will remember if you seemingly didn't do the readings. She grades somewhat fairly but she takes this serious. Only take it if you're a film or media studies major.

She was a great professor and I almost didn't take her class because of some of the negative comments on this website. Honestly, if you show up to class most of the time in a timely manner, she will be nice to you! She grades fairly, expects you to do the readings, though you can definitely participate even if you don't. Give her a chance.

I found the class to be easy, but I am also a horror movie enthusiast (it was a horror movie class). She is an excellent teacher. My only complaint is that she writes kinda small... Anyway, she seemed to remember everyone and had a lot of fun interacting with us.

She makes a topic like TV Culture seem not relevant or engaging to our lives. Only lectures and expects students to memorize the textbook to answer her questions. Shuts down personal interpretation if it does not coincide with the textbook. Her tone of voice makes everyone in the class fall asleep. Not an interesting class at all.

I agree about most of the comments, I had her 2 years ago, Id advise you steer clear of any class she teaches She was consumed with her own righteousness and she was not friendly to put it kindly. she is smart and knows her subject but she doesn't have the gift. She likes to insult and its basically uncomfortable to be in her presence.

She's fun but very nit-picky about what she considers to be the correct answer. When she engages the class, it seems as though she'd rather answer her own questions. Though given the density of the readings, she does a good job explaining. 1 Easy paper, 2 tests (midterm/final) that aren't so easy, but she gives Extra Credit.
