Jack Falla was an inimitable man who cared deeply for his students. He was shy and outgoing, all at the same time, and there is no question he has the best base of former students on the planet. He will be missed.

I love Professor Falla's 8 a.m. journalism class so much that I took his PR class even though I have no interest whatsoever in PR. I graduated a year ago, still keep in touch with him and just read his novel (which is, by the way, amazing). Best professor ever!

Falla is the best professor I have ever had at BU. This class is amazing, simply put. The guest speakers are great, the sports metaphors really do help, and the workload is quite fair. Plus, you always get out early! Falla really cares about the students and wants you to succeed in the business and will do anything to help. I miss him already!

Very laid back and genuinely wants his students to do well. This guys is like your favorite coach - he has your best interests at heart and not only wants you to do well in class and learn, but wants you to enjoy the process every step of the way. He is dry, humourous and extremely good natured, especially for an 8am class. I recommend this cour

The best professor I've had BU, Falla also makes this 8 a.m. class the best course I've taken. He has great anecdotes, brings pro sports writers into class (including in my semester the Globe's Kevin Paul DuPont), and is always willing to be a reference. If you want to be a sports writer or just take a fun class, Falla and JO514 are a must.

When Falla told us the story about taking his 4-year old grandson to the racetrack to gamble, that was the clincher. All sports metaphors, so much help, so worth getting up at 8, just a great time -- and he's gonna try to get you a job, too.

Awesome! You not only learn the art of sports writing, but you also learn about the industry. He gets former students of his and others in the field to come in and speak to us. Getting up for an 8 a.m. class is a small price to pay for taking this.

Sports writing! This man knows his stuff, being a former sports illustrated writer. Daily insightful quotes and great stories, as well as many examples of sports articals make this class fun even at 8am.

Sportswriting professor. Spent years writing hockey for Sports Illustrated. One of the best professors and classes I have taken. Makes classes fun and educational, and relates to students through sports.
