Comment:
A good substitute for lab class if you know decent amout of physics and chem (without too much in depth). Your ability in physics will help, as there will be intensive calculations and equation solving (like physics; you don't need preliminary physics knowledge though). It's like 70% calculations, 30% memorization.

Professor Wittig is great. He still remains my favorite professor at Vanderbilt to this day. His class has some challenging material, but he only tests you on core subjects. The review sessions are key for the tests. Had an A- but before the final I asked nicely so he moved me to an A and let me exempt the final. Great guy.

Make above a 90 on the three exams and you don't have to take the final. All of his old tests and quizzes are online and his review sessions clearly outline what will be tested. Easy class and he really loves what he teaches.

Use solution manual for homework. Memorize old tests to get As on current ones. Test averages were 90 and up when I took the course. Get As on all three midterm exams and you automatically get an A for the class. I and many other students got As without being able to solve a single Material Science problem.

Always seemed like he was trying to squeeze in everything on his PowerPoint into the lesson, which made it difficult to keep up. However, the review sessions for tests are extremely helpful - he basically tells you what you need to know for the tests. Remember to do the weekly online homework

He favors girls. Fact. But he's a chill guy and will help you out if your grade is borderline. GO to the review sessions and you will kill the tests. Get As on all 3 tests and you don't even have to take the exam.

Wittig is a great professor. He gives you way too much info in class, but tells you exactly what's on the tests and quizzes at the weekly review sessions. Attendance is not mandatory, but you get bonus points for using your clicker. Tests are very similar to previous ones, so if you get the old tests you're set.

He's Kelsey Grammer with an anger management problem! This would be fine except he doesn't teach you anything. You'll do fine if you teach yourself the class and go to all those annoying review sessions though. Going to class is absolutely useless though. Lab is alright though.
