I love Dr. Randall! She was one of my favorite professors, but she was a tough grader. I had her for two classes, Brit Lit 1 and Medieval Literature before she retired. Passing her class is hard but feels worth it.

I agree that Dr. Randall's classes require close attention and hard work, but her excellent lectures and extensive knowledge of the subject make up for this. Overall a great professor if you are willing to apply yourself. I learned a lot from this course.

Do not take this class until after May 2014. Dr. Randall is retiring at that time. She is a nice person, but seems to be under the impression that she is the best writer ever. You will hate this class. You will fail your first paper and probably your second. You might get a C on the third.

Comment:

Nice person, but unreasonable with her grading. Her tests are decent if you study hard. The quotes section is the most difficult. However, her papers are ridiculous. You will leave this class feeling as if you are the WORST writer ever. She does not expect hard work, she expects impossible work. No one leaves her class with an A. B's are rare.

I am very interested in British Literature. However, Dr.Randall is on some power trip to fail students as much as possible. She even told my class, "I want to be the brick wall that stops you" she is not helpful. She expects you to be able to write like a professional editor that has been in the biz for at least 5 years. Don't take her!

I do not mind teachers who are tough. I have found myself to thrive under critic, so long as teachers, who are meant to guide us through our education, are helpful. Dr. Randall will not. She has no interest in helping (a fact she admitted in class) and prides herself on being the "brick wall" students hit. She is a poor excuse for an educator

one of the hardest teachers ive ever taken. She is old school and doesnt care a bit if you fail or pass. We started with 12 students and ended with four. She failed a guy and we only had one week left. She said his essays werent done well.

You are expected to work hard and write your essays well, and that's fine, but Dr. Randall's use of class time is appalling. She seems to hold a wealth of information, but she rarely shares with the class in her lectures- instead we get a simple plot synopsis over a work we just read the previous night. This takes up the whole hour, apparently.

Wonderful prof. who does not receive the credit she deserves. Her expectations are high, but this is college, take the pacifier out of your mouth & study. If you read the material & assert yourself you will do well. If you try to skate by w/minimal effort, you will fail, I promise. APSU students tend to get coddled, but Dr. Randall will not abide.

Nice lady but unreasonable grader. Refuses to grade essays if they don't strike her fancy. Gives chicken scratches as notes and does not acknowledge the effort put in to a student's work. Gives extremely boring lectures, but had a student teacher this past semester who gave most of them. The student teacher was awesome; Dr. Randall not so much.

Very hard teacher. She enjoys teaching, and honestly, I learned a lot. But I don't recommend her. I dropped her because she wouldn't give my points on my essays due to being a paragraph short or too many grammar errors. She tells you not to use the writing lab.
