I am a History major know my history very well..... Got great grades in ever class but Jeffs. he is a nice guy however I simply cannot grasp his grading criteria. He does allow flashcards however expects you to write like you had every resource right in front of you on a test. his grading is extremely unfair. He can be confusing and is awful grades

Dr. Hornibrook is really good at making people and events from hundreds of years ago relatable and relevant. There is a lot to read in this class, but he goes over the readings in class and explains them pretty thoroughly. Most classes are lectures, but he does a good job of keeping them interesting.

I'm psyched to be taking my 3rd class with him. It takes about that long to get used to the way he has you write papers. Very funny and smart, he mostly lectures but he's entertaining and the subject is fascinating. Go to office hours when writing papers and he'll basically write them for you. I once saw him in Chipotle. Great prof and cool guy

I took the HIS181 class with him and actually really enjoyed it! He picks really interesting books for you to read that aren't just dry text material. He really gets to know his students by name and his lectures are very good, plus he is so funny!

he is a really great professor! he wasn't that hard, there are not too many assignments, lots of chances for extra credit, gives you all the test questions and if you show up to class and pay attention, the reading isn't all too important until you have a paper, but group discussions help you get most of the information you need

Never take this class. The assignments are confusing and hard to do. He instructs you to write a paper like a 7th grader, but then will grade it like you're trying to get into graduate school for history. Avoid at all costs.

Very nice guy! He makes the class fun and he loves what he does! However, he goes way too fast when going over the powerpoint slides and the reading can be challenging. There's about 3 papers, a midterm and final. He's willing to help! He'll give you a good grade if you go to him for help! I would highly suggest to take this class! Its fun!

Very good professor though the assigned essays can be challenging. Test material is handed out ahead of time. The only way to fail the test is to fail to prepare for it. Taking notes is virtually impossible...the pace of the class is too fast. But he has emailed his slides if you ask. Introduces great stuff at the beginning of each class...

Hornibrook is more of a english 101 professor, not history. He's a harsh grader and doesn't care if you understand his difficult readings. Also, if you email him for help, he won't response.

Class notes are all given on a slideshow. Goes through them way too fast and its impossible to keep up. Cannot Grade to save his life, impossible to get a good grade on the essays. But there it is an easy work load, with lots of reading. And at least he tries his hardest to be funny...

Hornibrook is a great professor. He makes class interesting and creates a comfortable atmosphere to learn. Although he does have VERY specific ideas about what he wants in your papers if you do the readings, show up to class, and study for the exams you'll do fine.

Jeff is entertaining and funny during lectures but once he is done with his 50 minute obligation, he is a nightmare. I do not know how he made it through his college experience. He is unorganized and doesn't respond to emails or telephone calls. Don't expect to get higher than a C, despite improvement and how much effort and time you put in.
