Jeff is an AMAZING PROF! This course is supper interesting! We learn about how mice are used in pain research and about phantom limbs. Thankfully the course is recorded, since there is not a lot of info on the slides, and you need to write what he says down. Also, there's no textbook, you save $, and he curves the class up if needed. )

He's one of my favourite professors at McGill. The material can be hard at times, but he is always willing to go back and re-explain. The material is really interesting, one of my favourite classes. You have to study that's for sure but it's rewarding. The midterms were kind of hard but the final was easy if you studied!

I didn't like his style at all, I took genes and behavior and loved it, but pain was a real pain for me. He is a bit sarcastic and not helping outside the class. Also his midterms were super eas, but the final exam ruined my GPA.

He was friendly the entire course, but horrible during office hours or in emails. He also asked horrible essay questions during the final. .

Really really interesting class! Prof. is really funny and explains really clearly the material. One of the classes I enjoyed the most at McGill. You have to really know your stuff well if you want a good grade. Do well on exams because it's hard to get a good grade in the paper. Review sessions were not really useful.

Jeff was amazing! I'm glad his class was recorded, because his slides mostly consist of lots pictures, and then he speaks a lot while they're up, so I had to go back and listen to them to take detailed notes. Doing so is necessary, because the tests (2 midterms and a final) are tricky. 1 research paper at the end graded by the TA's worth 10%

This is very much a tough course with a strong emphasis on the science of pain, but do-able with hard work. Professor Mogil is obviously knowledgeable and extremely articulate with his lectures, and the slides are filled with information (though not all of it). A very unique and interesting course. Definitely worth having under your belt.

Overrated. He is knowledgeable and nice and the course material is interesting but I found the class an utter pain to study for. His slides have no info on them, just a bunch of picsgraphs...I ended up not going to class and listening to the recordings just to get to write everything he said down! Readings are also useless and annoying.

Best. Professor. This guy seriously cares about his students, and that they get the best grade they possibly can. His lectures are super interesting (no book), and he makes sure you understand exactly what he's talking about, so very clear. Not an easy class in general, so you need to put in the effort. PS he got us all timbits during the final!

Mogil could not be more clear in his method of teaching. The content is interesting and the lectures are enjoyable, but he shoots tons of info at you that isnt on the slides. The tests are fair if you study hard (short answer and MC). The paper was a commentary on a journal article and was weird, but really short. Overall, great class.

Very interesting class. Consisted of lectures (crystal clear), and articles (to supplement the lectures). Don't get scared by the title, it's not like bio genetics--way better! The midterms and final were MC and short answer and veryy doable if you have a good grasp on the material. Paper was fun! It 's a unique class at McGill and a must take

If you took Biol 200, this class is a breeze. If not, it's still pretty easy. This class is about techniques for measuring how much of a trait is genetically heritable. Reasonably interesting. Mogil gave me a nice break and an easy A <3

very interesting material and lectures but the course is not a piece of cake, you need to work for it. he's also pretty condescending and seems to think he's so great. i'm a fan of the course, but not so much the prof.

I never write rate my profs, but I have to for Mogil. Take his class, seriously. He explains everything very well and actually cares about the class. He even brought around timbits for everyone on the final! Great guy, and reasonably easy if you have a background in genetic techniques.

You def. want to go in Psyc of Pain. Chances are it will be one of the classes you'll use in your future as we'll all be affected in one way or another by pain in our lives. Enjoy the class. Prof is really good. Ask questions, they will be answered.
