Great professor! Truly one of the last scholars at Fresno State. Not only does he have a solid grasp of the subject matter, he truly understands the secndary and tertiary effects that it has on U.S./Mexican relations today! I wish all professors at the university were this knowledgeable and scholarly!

If you can, TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR!! He relies too much the on book! He's very strict. You can't leave class early! Final test is worth 50 more then the other tests so your grade will plunge. Attendance is mandatory! To top it all off, he gets off topic away too much! Trust me, STEER CLEAR OF THIS PROFESSOR!

He is a very knowledgable professor. I learned alot going into his class. If you read the chapter and know when he gives the quizes they shoudlnt be a problem. His exams are easy enough just gotta study. Bonus questions are things he mentions in his lectures that are notable but mostly overlooked. Downsideis that he get distracted and tells stories

He is not a bad teacher but gets distracted very easily. His scoring is difficult to understand. He gives extra credit. Attendance is not mandatory but he gives random checks and extra credit for showing up. Must read book if you want to pass. Goes over many things in lectures. overall if you read and do extra credit you will pass

His emotional outburst distract from his ability(if he has any) to teach in class. He should have retired 20 years ago and moved back to Mexico since he seems to love it so much. This class is very difficult even if you dedicate adequate time to studying.

While he means well, he really isn't suited to be teaching anymore. Goes off topic and has a hard time hearing sometimes. There are pop quizzes and random attendance checks (he still keeps track of you though). Overall while he does know what he's talking about, this is one class I would recommend as a last resort if you can't find another.

Professor is difficult but fair. His expectations are clearly stated the first day of class. Everything needed to pass to exams is in the book or discussed in lecture. Paying attention and studying are a must to pass this class. Actually passing is quite rewarding.

I personally thought he was a good teacher, only problem is that he purely lectures and sometimes it can be difficult to take notes. Also, covers maybe too much on some days and if you fall behind its very difficult to recover

He gives a few extra credit points for random attendance checks. There are 3 major tests covering roughly 10 chapters each, and there are 2 10 Q tests before each major test. Those are easy. Just do your study guide and questions online (I never cracked the book. Wiki's got it all!), give answers in class, and get on his good side. It's fairly easy

STUDY 4 TESTS!! tests r VERY specific. specifc dates, names, etc.. its on the tests! use study guides & questions he puts online. it helps A LOT 4 studying! felt like the material taught/tested wasnt the important material; it was more random info from 1865 on. if u can find another prof, do it. if not, make sure u STUDY! if u do, you shuld be fine

I think he is just a good old fashioned teacher. Take good notes(birthplaces, nicknames, first and last names-- they will be on the test)... He a gives STUDY guide, and covers all material in his lectures, which are often take directly out of the book! STUDY! STUDY! I like him, but most my class hate him... cause they dont STUDY! so STUDY!

Worst professor I've had at State by far! His test are ridiculous. Instead of testing on the significant and truly important aspects of Mexican history his questions are based on minute details and hardly significant facts about stories he tells in class. 65% of the class failed our first test and I can just imagin how many people failed the class.

Dr. Luna is one of my favorite professors. I was told about him being mean before I met him but I did not see that when I took a class from him. He does not like laziness. He IS a fair grader & he treats his students with EQUAL respect! One has to meet him in person before you let words of others influence your thoughts about this professor.

Dr. Luna stands in front of the class and tells stories for an hour. The stories are the history and you have to remember small details but its an interesting class. His tests are very difficult all multiple choice tests. Either you like his classes or you hate them.

Attendance is about 15% of your grade, and the rest is based off 3 test. If you take good notes in class and go off his guidelines you will get a decent grade, however he is one of the most difficult history teachers and should only be taken if you cant get a different teacher.

It is an utter injustice that this man is employed as a teacher. His upper division history classes consist of multiple choice tests only, and you had better remember ever pointless, inane piece of trivia or you will not get an A. His lectures are incomprehensible and he is unclear. Don't expect to learn anything but trivia. Has limited expertise.

The worst teacher I've ever had! I agree with the others: he goes off topic, he's rude, unorganized, un-fair grader, and ridiculous expectations. I'm a 4.0 student, and when I realized he was only bringing me down I bailed. If you're enrolled in his class, I recommend you run the other direction too!!

Dr. Luna needs to retire. He has a mean streak and frequently talks off topic. He can be extremely rude. Lied to our class about his grading system. No papers for his class, except an "extra credit" paper (autobiography)worth 15 points. Turns out, it was NOT extra credit, but built into the grading system.
