I had Dr. Kim in 1996, and he made media studies come alive. Never I had been so interested in the history of mass media. He made me want to learn more; that's a rarity for a professor. Thank you for your teaching.

Go to class, listen to lectures, 2 midterms, 3 NYTimes submissions (summary and reflection), and a group presentation. Sounds like a lot but actually a great class, informative and interesting as long as you make an effort. A good chance to gain more knowledge about the media and current issues.

NY Times papers are an easy way to show you care in this class. Mine were always about 10 pages long and I rarely received below an A on them. Print the powerpoints to follow along in class and you'll be fine. All tests are multiple choice or truefalse. The final had an essay based on what we discussed on the first day of class.

Dr. Kim tries to make dry materials funny, and he is good at it. However, his quizzes and tests require you to know small details of the cases. Attend class regularly and listen to the lecture, or you won't be able to pull it off well.

Hardly answers e-mails. Obsessed with the subject and the New York Times. His tests are literally the slide shows in question form. USE STUDY GROUPS. It helps. Speak up in the class. He has small humor, but don't take him in the morning if you can. You will fall asleep.

Kim is a communications god, but is clueless when it comes to Anthropology, which is unfortunate for me and the other 3 anthro students in class this semester. He runs the class like a communications class and leaves us anthro people out to dry as we know nothing about communications.

Deff an awesome Prof. He Teaches very well and makes sure his students are doing well. His tests are easy when you study the material but he makes sure you pass by adding in other work to your grade. Summaries do every two weeks, but other than that easy class.

Mr. Kim is so funny! I love the way he teaches, he's very insightful. There is like no homework in this class. Just 9 NYT article summaries every 2 weeks along with an essay. He does ask that you read the chapters in the book, but you can pass the course without doing so. Just pay attention to the power point and study your guided notes! The tests,

Kim's a great teacher. He sometimes goes off on an tangent and brings up his son, who is a famous violinist by the way, but he gets back to the point after a while. The hw is almost non existent but the projects can be a pain. The midterm and final aren't bad if you study! and attend all the classes because he teaches through powerpoint.
