Dr. C is the man I had him for BIO-340 (Microbiology) BIO-440 (Environmental Microbiology) and did research with him. His classes are def tough but if u work honestly you should do great. He is hands down one of my greatest mentors academically, he is passionate about making sure his students are successful in his class & in their future.

Dr. C is one of the best professors I have ever experienced at LHU. He truly cares for the success of all students and will help in any way possible. He is incredibly organized when it comes to Microbiology, and the course is difficult. He presents material in a way that is exciting to learn but requires you to spend some time to learn it truly.

Dr. C is a shining spirit at LHU, he truly represents what I expect to receive educationally and experientially, from a college Microbiology course. He is very clear on what he expects from his students, & has been the most helpful professor to me, outside of the classroom. If you're looking for a class involving an easy A, forget it. Micro Fun

Dr. C is the best professor I have ever had, I have never met anyone that is as passionate about their work as he is. The class will take a lot of work but he does a great job of explaining the material. I wanted to go to med school but now after taking his class I am hooked on microbiology and want to pursue that as my career.

Dr. Calabrese is an awesome professor. He is very passionate about Microbiology and it makes the class really interesting! He also does a good job relating the material clinically. He REALLY wants his students to learn. This is a hard class and requires hard work... but it is so rewarding! I never expected to enjoy the course as much as I did.

He is one of the worst professors I've ever had. He acts like the students are bio majors and it seems like a upper level class. Most of the class gets a C or worse and on the first exam the class average was a 54%. It's so much harder than it should be, and it's a Gen Ed course. I highly recommend taking a different professor if possible.

I have Basic Bio which is a lab science and is a Gen. Ed. Well Calabrese treats it as if we are all microbiologists and gives us a nutload of hard assignments through email hours before the next class and he expects them to be completed. Oh btw these arent just simple worksheets, they are packets. The smallest being 3 and largest being 9 pages.

I had him for biology lab and it was difficult. His quizzes are long and hard. I felt he didn't need to make lab so hard because it was only a gen ed and most students in the class are not biology majors. I was able to do okay in biology overall because I had an easy lecture instructor. Would not have wanted him for both lab and lecture.

He is a hard teacher, and his tests are long (14-21 pages). He expects you to understand the concepts from lab and class. His notes follow the book so if he doesn't explain something well enough, you can always read or go to his office and ask him. He doesn't have favorites, and he tries to challenge everyone the best he can.

Great, energetic teacher, that is helpful one-on-one, if you can manage to get him one-on-one. He was very busy, hardly ever there during your lab period, or during open lab periods (which are mandatory by the way, prepare to spend 2-3 hours extra a week in open labs). Must come to class, tests are very hard and based on notes. Lots of information.

Microbiology is terrible. It's a crazy hard class, and Calabrese expects a lot out of students. He doesn't really teach, but he's really helpful if you ask him questions about lab. Yes, he takes forever to get things back. I don't even think his grades are based on tests, just how smart he thinks you are. So impress the heck out of him in lab

Microbiology was the hardest, most useless class I have taken in my four years. It takes 3+ weeks to get graded materials back. Over half of the points for the course came in the last 2 weeks of class. He doesn't give you enough time to get group projects done. Exams are RIDICULOUS. most unorganized prof and class I have ever had.

I think that he is a nice guy.. But he hardly did any teaching? Unless you call putting notes up on a powerpoint and reading them to the class teaching..? The class size was too big, and he didn't give very good help when asked for it.. It made it hard to actually want to go to this class, let alone enjoy it.

Dr. Calabrese is an awesome prof. I had him for intro to Bio. Yeah the class size is big, but as long as you show up and take good notes, listen, pay attention and study you'll do fine. If you go to him with any problems about the class he actually listens and he does care. He wants his students to succeed. I'd recommend him to anyone! :-)
