Comment:

Very knowledgeable, and texts were very interesting. But maybe (maybe) too much history instead of lit and looking at the text itself. also seems to discourage Qs. On the strict end of the graders i've had. Learned lots, though, the class should be required for english majors.

Took this class Spring 09. First off let me say the man loves what he is teaching, and is a good professor. The main issue is the he speaks in such a monotone voice the challenge is staying awake. For me i enjoy Greek Mythology so i stayed interested. Good class but expect to do work. Lots of reading and writing! You get the grade you deserve!

You will have to write... a lot. So keep up with the assignments. The stories are interesting, but the professor doesn't help to get into them. It is a boring class, but if you take it, do the work on time and read the plays. It'll be fine.

Worst class ever taken. He is extremely boring and gives alot of work. He let me make up assignments i didnt complete at the end of the semester and gave me a much higher grade then i think i deserved...that was a major plus, but i would never take him again, because of his dullness factor and i dont advise you to take him either.

Lidov is the most boring and unfair professor that I have ever taken at Queens College. I was looking forward to this class because i'm a big fan of greek mythology and I expected to enjoy it but I hated it!He has a very monotone voice that makes you want to sleep. Here's a big tip:Do all the writing assignments because he counts all of them!

This class should be required for all English majors. If you're a serious student, this is your guy: he's brilliant, fair, and extremely witty. Listen to him carefully. Good note taking and keeping up with the reading are essential.

very boring. gives to much readings. two or three plays are due for each class. never goes over the readings. talks about the same thing over and over. and he is a very hard grader. he picks his favorites and lets them rewrite papers but not others when he makes the same comments and same grade.

This is a class for someone who wants to learn and likes to read and write. Try to read ahead and pay attention to what you read, he will not go over the books in detail. His lectures are fascinating and entertaining. Take good notes. Everyone who works hard will get an A. I would take him again.
