Comment:
Sweet and empathic man, makes certain topics about English fun. But incredibly difficult grader, with horrible handwriting, and no clear rubric/way to improve. Ridiculously tough for freshman coming out of an Oklahoma high school education that's lackluster.

OMG, THIS PROFESSOR IS SOOOOO AMAZING!!!LOL The standard of excellence necessary to do well in his class is a bar that many would choose to limbo under, and that select few could jump. I have never felt so uneducated and inadequate in my life. It was an illuminating experience. Also, he is old-guy hot. Like, nerdy silver fox.

Dr. Morris was my favorite professor that I've had so far at Cameron. He is a tough grader, but he gives EXCELLENT feedback on all papers. If you are not naturally gifted at writing you will more than likely have to work very hard in his class, but he will make you a better writer. He's very nice & willing to help with everything.

I don't mind a challenge, but what I do mind is a professor that cannot stay on topic, he keeps veering into the budget crisis on Cameron and yes that's serious but it isn't part of the lesson plan, I like procise lectures that get to the point and lessons that are more clear, though he will try to help which is nice but it remains unclear at time

Would not recommend to anyone. He's an extremely tough grader who expects way too much from his students, especially for a Comp 1 class. Had to drop him.

It wasn't an awful class, but I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. He's the hardest grader yet. I put my heart and soul into many papers, and I received at 70 on every paper.

I'm a second semester freshman, and I took him for comp 1 last semester. I won't lie, he is very strict on grading and I had a hard time getting good grades on his essay (I'm also bilingual, with english being my second language if it matters), but he helped me organize my papers better. You need to pay attention in his class.

He expects a lot of his students but if you work with him he will work with you. I find that he comes across hard but he wants to make you a better writer of professional materials. If you don't want to be a better writer of papers don't take him. He knows so much and as so much to teach he is worth sitting under and learning from.

Dr. Morris is my favorite professor at Cameron. He is very strict when it comes to his grading, but I would prefer that he was than be unprepared in other classes. If you just want to slack off in your courses, then Dr. Morris is not the man to take. If you want a helpful that really pushes you to succeed, the Dr. Morris is great!

I am a senior English major with a 4.0 and he is the hardest professor I've ever had, and not in a good way. If you want someone who is challenging and will also teach you something, I'd recommend Hodgson or Hall. Avoid this guy. He's nice and very intelligent, but his teaching skills are lacking.

He expects you to read the assigned pages, participate in class discussion, and turn in polished essays. He's always available to help students out and encourages discussions, in class or outside. He's another great English professor.

Great professor, I didn't have a problem in his class at all. I didn't find him or the work to be difficult. Maybe I'm not the average student though. I'm a senior.

Believe the others when they say his classes are difficult. I was not a freshman - I was a Junior and an English major when I took his class. Also, be VERY careful to follow his instructions. However, if you don't have a busy life outside his class, and want to learn a bunch, he's your man.

I am very surprised at some of the ratings for this professor, they were obviously written by freshman who weren't interested in learning. This is one of CU's best professors. He cares about his students, and is passionate about writing. I am currently taking a poetry course with him and I highly recommend that others do the same. He is wonderful.

Expects near-perfect work from a freshman. Marks only first or second error on a paper and expects you to find the rest. Also marks with reference to the book and has bad handwriting. Consistently in office during hours and will answer questions. Also is very accepting of withdrawals if you decide the class is too much.

Do not take him for English Comp 1! He expects graduate level material from a freshman course. His standards and expectations are ridiculous. Avoid at all costs!

I took both ENGL Comp I & II with Dr. Morris and his classes were definitely challenging. He expects your best, but isn't that what we should want him to expect. Although his class is not easy, he is very clear and understandable. Also, if you need help, ask and he'll go out of his way to assist. He was readily available during his office hours.
