Comment:
Sometimes Jonas gets a bad rap but I think he is a pretty good teacher who genuinely wants you to succeed and will help you do so if you go to office hours. He often thinks there is only his way of thinking though which may make some people dislike his class but keep an open mind of him as a teacher. Midterm was hard but the final was fine.

Jonas is super nice and funny. Class is really easy. There are almost no assignments and we get to do cool things like make electric circuits and go stargazing.

The class was very much discussion based, so not only do you get to know Jonas really well, you get to know your classmates really well, too. The classroom mood is pretty laid back, but you can tell that Jonas really cares about the content. And the stories Jonas tells are the best. He likes to talk about his rebellious middle school days.

Class is super easy, but suuuuper random. Mid term is easy but somewhat open ended, he grades kind of random. Has a hard time seeing things differently than his own. He is nice and caring but you won't learn new information. Lots of reading but he makes it easy and you rarely talk about the books you read. Class is discussion based be ready to talk

Nice enough guy but a bit strange. tests are very open0ended but graded harshly -- gives opportunities for retake! Cares about your success. Very strong opinions -- not much room for negotiation. Ok class, but not my favorite

Cox was nice and funny, but it didn't seem like we learned a lot in class. It was really slow paced with almost no homework and only a couple tests. By the end of the semester I was surprised that we had learned enough for there to be a final exam.

Jonas was very low key. Almost all the work was group projects and presentations. It was mainly a student lead class. We had to read a few things for the class, but a lot was just research and discussion. If you participate and are engaged you should be fine.

Jonas is one the greatest professors in the School of Ed. He's hilarious and very insightful. He only has a midterm and a final. His lectures are sometimes mind boggling and confusing, but he is willing to repeat and go step by step to make sure you understand. He has several outside books to read, and those apply a lot to the tests.

He is probably the worst teacher you will ever have at Gonzaga. If you can avoid taking him do it. If not, he's not the worst, just be super nice to him and he will grade your papers really easy and he will like you. Get on his bad side and he will hate you. He doesn't teach anything. The first three months we literally do nothing in class.

Terrible professor. You never know whats happening, whats due, or what your grade is. Doesn't seem like he is following a curriculum, and I have not learned one thing. The class is a waste of time, and he is rude and picks on students. I don't think he knows what he is doing at all. Do not take his class. You will question wether you want to teach.

Split the books between friends. Jonas is so all over the place and I don't really know the point of the class. The tests are easy but do the readings because he does pop quizzes. If you are Special Ed, it's rough being in his class because he is so opposed to behaviorism and doesn't listen to other opinions. And he is a terrible speller

Interesting professor. Was all over the place during the semester had no idea where the class was going. Lots of random readings and quizzes. Pretty easy class, but Jonas is a terrible speller and the class is pretty dry.

Jonas was an extremely frustrating person to learn from. I felt he was extremely underqualified (he couldn't spell basic words correctly) and he refused to listen to other points of view and pushed his own onto the students. He was a big reason of why I dropped out of the SOE.

Jonas is a great guy. What you have to realize is that he's trying to get you to define your teaching philosophy, not imposing his own upon you. He's open to different opinions in teaching, but he's going to ask questions to get you to take a stance one way or another. Be prepared to DEFEND what you believe, or you will get frustrated quickly.

He likes to hear your opinions, and he freely gives his own. He wants his students to know that there are other view points, and I guess if you can't realize or handle that, you probably shouldn't be a teacher. He's a nice guy, he just wants his students to be able to back up what they say they believe in, and some people can't.

He's a nice person, but his class is really frustrating! He wants to hear people talk, but oftentimes he would tell you you're wrong if you didn't agree with his opinions.

Jonas is a funny professor but he is not for everyone though. You get a different perspective of ideas but some people believe they have to listen to it but all he wants is you to understand different theories and to get your own perspective. He gives quizes from time to time but if you didn't read, you let him know and you still get points.

The man really made me feel like I was going to punch someone. At first, I agreed with the man, but the more he pushed his ideas down my throat, the more I rejected them. However, it's a required class for teachers, so tough it out.

He is an amazing teacher. Probably not for everyone, but he really makes you think and readjust your views. I've never been so challenged mentally in a class (in a good way.)
