Horrible! Disrespectful & completely subjective grading, depending entirely on his own perception(s). Discouraging and confrontational to me, which made me question my abilities, of which I question his integrity as the "professor." This man does not deserve the honor of being in front of a classroom.

I took this teacher in 1988/89. He was wonderful. He had us all learn everybody's name the first day in order to break the ice. He was available for questions during office hours. He helped us with feeling the energy of the audience. He was able to explain acting styles to us using familiar celebrities. He was easy and breezy. No one complained. A+

one of worst teachers ive ever had. he is arrogant, malicious, and prejiduce. he plays favoritism with students he likes and isnt a fair grader because of it. i would never recommend him as a teacher. i took the same class with a different teacher and the difference was from an F with him to an A with her. Look for another teacher!!!

I am not going to be negative, but I H--ED THIS CLASS. His lectures: YAWN! Wake me up when it's over. His expectations of an intro theatre class are beyond unreasonable, and the exams are ridiculously difficult. Other than, that I loved this class. If you love the theatre, STAY AWAY from this professor, you might despise it after this class.

First! This is kite possibly one of the worst teachers, EVER. From his ridiculous outfits to his pompous attitude, this man sucks all the fun out of theatre, which is pretty hard to do. If youre dead set on doing Theatre, Scarlata is at least better than this poor excuse for an instructor. I got an A, but I didnt take anything away from the class.

This class was the most fun I have taken at El Camino. This teacher knows his stuff and people who don't like him just don't understand the material. This guy is great, putting a lot of interest into the class and you will learn a lot about theatre if you take it. Somewhat of a hard graded, but can be done.

The tests are UNREASONABLY difficult, he expects way too much for a GE class. Lectures are hard to follow, he talks way too fast, and he's totally unflexible about the mandatory attendance at various plays, even if you can't get the time off work, etc. Don't take him!!!!

His exams suck. All that stuff that he mentions on the side is on them, and of course nobody payed attention. He wants you to know all the american playwrights and all the theatre architects and a lot of other stuff that shouldn't be in an "appreciation" class. Do yourself a favour, take art instead!!!!!
