Interesting class, except how he talked about the same themes. Lectures are okay & expanded my thought process, but the order of his slides made no sense. Jumps from topic to topic with no regard for organizationmake it connect. NOT the class to take to get a foundation of history. VERY vague assignments. But he's a nice dude. Dont buy the books

I loved this class!! I didn't finish a few of the journals but If you put a lot of effort into them, participate and ask a lot of questions during class you will do well. He wants to know that you are learning and thinking critically about the content of the class above all. I'm a C student and got an A in this class.

The whole class is giving speeches. Gonzalez is excellent at public speaking and has the arrogance to prove it. He is very intimidating to present in front of and is not afraid to give constructive criticism. He has a specific way he wants his speeches done, dont go against the status quo. If you show a lot of research and confidence youll do fine

Very interesting lectures. He draws you in and makes you think deeply about the questions he is presenting to you about culture and who "you" are. Not much work, just apply lectures to something in your daily life on your essays and you'll do great. Very easy to learn from.

Very interesting lectures. Grades mostly for participation, so speak up. Reflection essays are easy if you follow the context of the lectures in class to understand the reading.

Wonderful professor! Very random, entertaining, knowledgeable, funny, helpful and truly caring! He is straight to the point&doesn't waste time on stuff we don't need. He makes speeches fun. I am a shy person but this was honestly a very enjoyable class and he took the weight off speech-giving. He is one of my favorite professors at CSUF now! :D

He's great. He doesn't assign a lot of work, but you end up learning a great deal despite that. If you need help, ask him...he is a really nice guy. Very interesting class. I would take him again.

Hes a lecturing teacher, almost entirely, which isn't bad. I found most of the lecture interesting. The only work you do is three essays, and even if you don't understand the reading you can use Internet sources. He was out for about 5 weeks, and his sub was terrible. So he said forget what he said, let's just move on, and we only had 2 essays.

Gonzalez is an amazing lecturer! His classes are so interesting. I hated Social Science before, and this ended up being my favorite class. There are no tests, just journals. Participation is a MUST! This was the hardest part for me because i hate talking in class but your grade depends on it! Take him! He ROCKS!

Do not take this class unless you actually want to learn something. Gonzalez is AMAZING. Readings are difficult, but he will tell you what he wants you to get from them in class. Bring the reading packet to class and take notes directly on it to help with writing journal entries (60% of grade). Taken him twice so far and would absolutely again.

He makes speech class see not to terrible. Basically all we did was give speeches. There were no lectures really because it was self explanatory. The only bad thing was that he acted like he had favorite's in the class, and it felt like the graded the speeched according to how much he liked you compared to the others. Other than that, it was good.

He is a really good professor. He knows his stuff!!! My friends and I call him a walking encylopedia. He talks really fast and your hand will ache after every class session. But overall, he gives you many clues to his exam questions and specifically tells you info to read to prepare for exam. Study guide takes time. Must study to pass.
