Lauher is very nice and he tries his best to teach the course. He is quirky explains things decently well. However, if you want to study his lectures, none of the answers that were done in class will be on slides. This was a major blow to my studying. The textbook didn't help me a lot. He is flexible enough to curve well if you put in effort.

He is a funny professor, but sometimes I feel like he does NOT teach, sometimes he does not talk about the clicker questions even though many people did it wrong. Go to your TAs, they will save your grade.

All the past exams were easy then the ones he made for this semester were next level, which makes no sense. But regardless, he is not good at lecturing in the slightest. He's one of those profs who's too smart to teach I think. He doesn't explain anything in lecture and then the UGTAs pretty much teach the entire course, it's nuts.

I think Dr. Lauher is a great professor for the course. The textbook itself was pretty easy to understand; anything I didn't understand Dr. Lauher was able to explain in the lecture. The lectures are not just reiterations of the textbook, but actually full of examples of problems and such, which he goes through. Tests are tricky but doable.

He trashes the one tutoring service (Todd's) that everyone recommended for years that helped my brother get As and into med school and lucky for me I am using. On a side note he also throws weird parties with students, not sure what goes on but sounds inappropriate and gross!

Really nice guy, obviously since it's organic chemistry it wasn't easy. His lectures weren't great and rarely provided any clarity on topics and he taught as if we were already familiar with the material. Undergrad TA's will save your life. Grading isn't tough though, do the homework (there isn't much)/show up and do average on tests for a solid B

After Carrico leaves you develop an appreciation for Lauher's lecturing style. Both are great lecturers, but Lauher has a lot more experience with the material. If you wish to do well, the text before the class. It is okay if you're confused, class exists to smooth it out. Its unlikely you'll be confused after class, but if you are head to the CLC.

He is a great guy but horrible lecturer. Rather than actually teaching the material, he just does examples and it doesn't help me at all

This guy is the standard that all profs should be held to. Goes above and beyond in engaging and inspiring students. You will do yourself a favor if you participate and ask questions. He and carrico make organic chem a truly amazing class

So hard to follow along the lecture because you have no idea what part of the structure he is talking about unless you are a chemistry major. Buy a laser pointer and help out the students who want to learn.

Lauher tries but he is one of those professors who can't get all the way down to a student's level. He tries to use technology and relate to students that way but he just can't explain concepts very well. He also wastes lecture time by showing us tricks instead of fundamentals.

He tries to teach but in my option fails. There isn't connection between lecture and tests. Everybody likes Friday because he comes in different outfits to be humorous . One time he was dresses as a hobo with tattered clothes. We all laughed.

He tries very hard to be entertaining. Every Friday he comes in class dressed in a different costume. One time he came in as a clown with the big shoes and red nose. The whole class cracked up.

He is a very good teacher. He is also deeply religious. At the start of each class he would have us stand and hug the person to our right. Then we would stay standing and hold hands with the students on either side and recite a prayer to God to be good human beings and do well in the class. It is a very moving experience!

Joseph Lauhrer seems like a good person even though his teaching style is horrendous. He stutters alot and doesn't get to the point during most of his lectures. I would recommend getting todd tutor and organic chemistry semester 1 by David Klein, and his textbook, if you want to do well in this course. Need to go to class for 60 clicker credits.

So here's the thing with Lauher, he's a really cool guy and outside of class he will help you with questions but during lecture, he never particularly gives a straight answer and I think overall, is a pretty poor lecturer.
