Comment:

This professor was extremely horrible. She never emailed back me or anyone else in the class. She always had excuses that she was "sick", I had a friend that took her the previous semester and also said that professor Hatcher was ALWAYS canceling the class due to "sicknesses". I think this professor suffers from Munchausen's disease..

This instructor apparently had some type of emergencies while teaching my course. So I will be respectful of the delays in a lot of stuff. The instructor does not reply to emails, took 3+ months to grade things so your standing in the class can be unknown. Most of the time expectations were unclear and it makes completing work very difficult.

When I began her class on the first day, I was confused on what to do it. However, I began to understand what was important what was not. I did not know what to expect from this class, I thought it was technical writing tbh. Although I received a better grade than I expected, I worked for every last grade I earned.

She is easily distracted. She goes off topic during her lectures frequently. Which also means that assignments will get pushed back. Don't bother emailing her, she takes days to respond, if at all. On a good note, if you come to class regularly, handle any questions or concerns with her in person, and turn in all assignments on time you'll pass.

Unfortunately for a large number of UHCL students this class is required for their major. The spring semester is about to start and the fall grades have not been posted. Prof doesn't respond promptly to emails. We wrote 4 essays thru out the course of the class, none of which were graded until after the last day of school. I was unable to make corrections and progress because I was unaware of previous mistakes until after all assignments were submitted. Grades are still not submitted and school has been out 2 weeks

Prof Hatcher responded promptly to my emails. The class was well organized, and we followed the syllabus as it was. The MINDTAP assignments are optional, and can be used to boost your grade if needed. You need the textbook because the fill in the blank answers on the quizzes are verbatim. I would definitely take her class again.

The main problem with Dr. Hatcher is that she is disorganized. We meet once a week and that only adds to the confusion since you have to wait a whole week for clarification. She is 50/50 responsive on emails. If you want to pass her class, YOU HAVE TO KEEP YOURSELF AHEAD AND ASK FOR DEADLINES or you may unintentionally miss an assignment due date.

Semester has already ended/till this day (2 weeks) later i'm finally getting grades for essays written. Every essay is getting the same deductions and comments. Had I known what mistakes I was making then I could have corrected it before writing the next paper! It's pointless to wait until after the semester to tell me what I did wrong. HORRIBLE

I am pretty sure she is the worst teacher I have ever taken in regards to writing. She takes forever to grade essays that she has given and then grades them extremely hard. She also says one thing and then does another, for example saying how great your thesis is then turns around and marks it as unacceptable after writing 9 pages on it.

DO NOT TAKE HER! I took her for advanced writing, basically we wasted almost the entire semester listening to long lectures and maybe receiving two grades! Now we are on the last month of classes and shes throwing an annotated bibliography, literature review and a research paper out there! With no clear explanation! Takes over a day to email back.

Do NOT take her! I heard from some friends that she wasn't "that bad" & honestly she wasn't. She has gotten better at returning emails, and has reduced how many papers you have to write. I usually make A's on papers & that surely didn't happen with her! I'm hoping for a B-!!!!!!

Unbelievably slow to respond to e-mails. Waited at least a month before she finally got back to me. The papers are not too bad, but the teacher's organizational skills are terrible. The longer the semester went on the more useless she became. Slowest grading I have experienced, and overall not a good class.

I took the hybrid course, half online, half in class. She isn't qualified to teach at this level. She took WEEKS to reply to any email or phone call and wasn't helpful in any way when I needed assistance. I would highly recommend avoiding her at all cost!!!!!!!!

Takes FOREVER to return papers, and is extremely hard on grading. I usually make A's in writing and did very bad on the first paper! Very frustrating because of her weird grading system that I still don't understand. I took her because I had to with my schedule. I would take someone else if you need advanced writing!!

The person below is obviously related to Judy Hatcher. She is the worst teacher I have ever encountered. They are lying on the course work too. She is not sweet to help you. She thinks you need to know everything before you get in her class.She does not want to help and likes to laugh and fail people because they came to a writing class to learn!
